Pray first pray always! When the apostle Paul wrote about putting on the full armor of God in Ephesians chapter four, he concluded by calling us to intercessory prayer. Paul understood the reality of spiritual warfare firsthand. He instructed us to see our struggle as a battle against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Read again the imperative voice he used to call the church to action:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can stand strong against the devils schemes (Eph. 4:10-11).

His admonitions about the nature of Gods armor conclude with the necessity of continual Spirit-filled intercession. Here is how he described prayer that defeats the enemys schemes and attacks:

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lords people (Eph. 4:18).

In our movement we like to say, Pray first. We should also hear the urgency of Pauls words and say, Pray always! n Always in the mighty power of Gods Spirit. n Always making every occasion an opportunity to intercede. n Always alert to the devils schemes, as we pray with all kinds of prayer. n Always standing guard over all the saints.

Dee and I have felt humbled and grateful for the power of your prayers on our behalf. We urge you to use this prayer calendar to cover the servants and ministries of Converge with protective prayers. Every person you see in this calendar needs and counts on your intercession. So much is at stake and the spiritual opposition is real and constant. This is true for your lives and your church family as well. Thank you for joining us in championing the priority of prayer in all of our circles of influence. We know how the battle ends and we stand together in Christs triumph. In his grace and peace,

Jerry Sheveland President Converge Worldwide (BGC)
