Dear Friends, This season of Lent calls us to recognize the spirit of the Lord within us and to act in that spirit. The recogni on comes first, by seeing our own poten al for goodness

and acts of generous compassion. Over these past months the men’s group of the parish “Huellas de Jesus” took up the task of organizing a collec on of personal hygiene products and other items for people isolated in deten on centers due to immigra on issues. Recently the group was able to assemble and deliver over 300 more packages to detainees. And this was due to your generosity; to the dona ons by many individuals to this effort. As I announced last weekend, a calcula on by our bookkeeper showed that over the past year, you our parishioners donated a total of over $52,000 to various extra collec ons for vic ms of natural disasters, for work by missionaries here at home and abroad, and for the church in oppressed areas of the world. This is your response to calls for generous compassion. You as individuals need to look to your own more personal lives and recognize those moments of conscious self offering, self-giving of your me and your efforts for the sake of another’s needs, for whatever the moment might have called for and recognize the Lord’s spirit within yourself. We know we have not always been fully generous. It is easy to remember our faults and our sinfulness. But as in this season of Lent we are, yes, willing to repent our sins, let your hope be based upon the goodness that the Lord has placed deep inside of you and that you have allowed, if not always, at least some mes, to be manifested in your ac ons. Remember your goodness. Build upon it through prayer and trust in the Lord! Sincerely yours, Msgr. Gregory Studerus Pastor
