CATHOLIC CHURCH December 24, 2016
who was recently buried from Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Currie. May his soul and the souls of all of the faithfully departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
FROM THE DESK OF MONSIGNOR HEITING MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Saint Luke’s gospel for Christmas night (Luke 2: 1-14) gives a wonderful account of Mary and Joseph traveling to find a place in which Mary could give birth to the Savior. The story concludes with: “…a multitude of the heavenly host(s) with the angel praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” We celebrate in Christmas the coming of Jesus Christ into the world. As the touching Christmas song “Mary Did You Know?” recounts, the Savior whom Mary delivered came to deliver her. Christ our Savior comes to deliver all of us. He delivers us from sin, death, and division to establish a new kingdom on earth which foreshadows the Kingdom of Heaven. Truly, “glory to God in the highest!” May the commemoration of the birth of Christ our Savior bring to you, to your family, and to all those dear to you many blessings and much peace. May 2017 be a year of much happiness and health to you as well! PARISH CLUSTER WISHES… Thank you to everyone who helped in any way to prepare
the three churches of our parish cluster for the great Feast of Christmas. Outdoor nativity scenes, outside decorations, the inside decorations with flower arrangements…all of this could not be done without willing hands and hearts. Our churches look beautiful for this special occasion thanks to your generous help. Our sympathy and prayers to the family of John Jacobson

March for Life
Sunday, January 22nd, 2017
State Capitol, St. Paul, MN
Contingent on interest, buses are being arranged across the
Diocese. The March begins at 2:00 p.m. in front of the
Capitol and there is a program at 2:30 p.m. on the Capitol
front steps. We’ve had a number of our youth and adults
participate in March for Life in the past—let’s get organized
and get a group together for this year! Contact Lisa in the
Faith Formation Office if you are interested!
LET’S BE A VOICE FOR LIFE!
Our children will do a short program, and youth will fill
the liturgical roles for Mass. Please let Holly Zins (507)
360-6958 know if your children/youth would like to
participate. We also need parents to help supervise the
children. We are very pleased that Holly Zins is directing
the Epiphany program again this year! She has told us
that because of her upcoming marriage, this will be her
last year. We are currently seeking people who would be
willing to work with Holly this year, and take over the
direction of this special program in future years. If you
are interested and willing (it’s a lot of fun!) contact Holly
or Lisa in the Faith Formation office. We are also
planning to again have a pancake breakfast (fundraiser
for Faith Formation) following the Mass. Thanks to Edie
and Jim Troje, who have agreed to supervise this, but we
need others to help! If you can help out please contact
Edie or let Lisa know.
ATTENTION CONFIRMATION CANDIDATES Our next
Confirmation session is Wednesday, January 11th at
7:00 p.m. at St. Gabriel. Your Confirmation sponsor
should come with you to this session.
Please note— The Faith Formation Board meeting
previously scheduled for Wednesday, January 18th
has been changed to Wednesday, January 25th at
6:00 p.m. at St. Gabriel School.
From St. Gabriel Faith Formation—a very blessed and Merry Christmas to all! This past Monday, our 4th and 5th grade classes took ornaments that they had made and gave them to residents of Maple Lawn. A special thanks to all the kids and to Catechists Sue Post and Suzi Zins for
this special Christmas act of kindness.
We want to express our gratitude in a special way at this time of year to all of our volunteers who give so much of themselves to teach our children/youth and to our families for their support. Remember—this weekend is only the beginning of the Christmas season, and we have a very special parish family celebration coming up on Epiphany, which is January 8th. We hope that you and your family will take part!
In the joy and peace that Jesus brings to us ~ Lisa

FCCW News~ St. Gabriel Church had many building repairs this year and then the furnace, the boiler, in the school
needed repair work done also. The cost on the boiler is $3,000 that needs to be paid by the end of the year. When I talked with Msgr. Heiting he said it would be okay to appropriate the funds to the church from our FCCW account. I talked with many women last Sunday morning and they agreed it would be the thing the FCCW needs to do. We are committed to supporting our youth and certainly a working furnace is necessary in the school where we educate our youth. So, I did appropriate $3,000 for the repair of the boiler. After making our donations, dues and other expenses we will still have in our funds over $6.000, and it seems our funds are growing. Thanks to all who make the FCCW a healthy organization.
