GATHERING AROUND GOD’S WORD CHORAL INTROIT What a fellowship, what a joy divine Anthony J. Showalter (GTG #837, vs. 1) CHILDREN’S TIME CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Sing a new song, a song of thanks and praise, Congregation: for God has done wondrous deeds, and is great beyond compare!
PRAYER OF PRAISE Great Maker of the waves that move in rhythm; determiner of life’s currents
that wash the shores of our lives; presence of calm that stills the restless-ness in our lives; we come into your presence. In praise and adoration for your grace that touches the shores of our lives, nurturing and sustaining us; for the journey ahead, and when the journey is fraught with danger; when dreams of the future are shrouded in the mist; your Spirit meets us anew with a message to keep hope alive. Thus do we pray in thanksgiving, through him who is your hope with us. Amen.
*HYMN 39 Great Is Thy Faithfulness CALL TO CONFESSION Let us confess our sins to God, for the Holy One is steadfast in love and always
ready to forgive. PRAYER OF CONFESSION Mothering God, we have chased after foolish things, and spent our strength
on vanity; our labor has been in vain. Deliver us from arrogance and forgive our self-concern, that we may find our reward with you, as servants of your dream. Through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
CHORAL RESPONSE O how sweet to walk Anthony J. Showalter (GTG #837, vs. 2) DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS
Beloved, we are forgiven in Christ, the Lamb who bears our sin. Happy are those who put their trust in God, and delight to do God’s will, for God makes our footing sure upon the rock of Christ.
*GLORIA PATRI HYMN NO. 581 Glory be to the Creator, and to the Christ and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and always shall be, world without end!
Amen, amen.
*Please stand as you are able.
THE PEACE Leader: Let us now share the peace which Jesus made possible.........
Peace be with you. Congregation: And also with you. Leader: Please greet those near to you with the peace of Christ. ANTHEM O Lamb of God Most Holy Sandra Gay
O Lamb of God most holy who on the cross did suffer So patient still and lowly yourself to scorn did offer. Our sins by you were taken or hope had us forsaken
Have mercy on us, Jesus! When I survey the wondrous cross, on which the Prince of Glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss and pour contempt on all my pride.
PROCLAIMING GOD’S WORD PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION:
Come, Holy Spirit, Heavenly Dove: Open our ears to the truth of your word, that the testimony of Christ may be strengthened among us and the glad news of deliverance revealed. Amen.
