THE FLEXIBLE,VALUE-ADDED PROGRAM United Producers, Inc. has developed a flexible, value-added feeder calf program that can be utilized consistently across our territory by feeder calf producers who are members of the co-op. A FLEXIBLE PROGRAM: • We do not dictate how you must market your cattle to participate. All of the options the co-op offers fit well with the Yellow Tag Program—marketing through a UPI auction, direct marketing or listing your cattle on the monthly UPI internet sale. • We do not require a specific brand of products for vaccinating, deworming, mineral or feeding. You are the manager of the cattle, so you decide what works best for you and your situation. To enroll your cattle in the Yellow Tag Program: 1. Contact your local UPI representative. They will work with you to answer your questions, get Yellow Tag Program ear tags and complete the required paperwork to enroll your cattle. At this time, they will be glad to discuss the best marketing opportunities for your calf crop. Many variables will determine what is best for you, number of head, size of the cattle, condition, marketing time frame, location of the cattle and more. 2. Purchase the UPI Yellow Tag program ear tags. Each calf will need to be tagged with these Yellow Tags prior to marketing, which will signify to buyers that the calves have been weaned, vaccinated, wormed and managed according to the requirements of the Yellow Tag Program. These tags may be purchased from UPI representatives for $2 per tag (one tag required per calf). When the calves are marketed through the UPI system, you will be reimbursed $1 per head for tags. In the event that you want to withdrawal your cattle from the program (for any reason), simply return the tags in usable (like new) condition and you will be refunded the original purchase price of $2 per tag. 3. Prior to selling your calves, you will also be required to sign a Certification Document stating that the calves were weaned, vaccinated and wormed according to program requirements. Our marketing staff is excited to bring our members this opportunity. Any size of operation can take advantage of this program, which allows producers to be part of a bigger marketing program and to develop a positive reputation for their cattle over time. www.uproducers.com 1-800-456-3276 PRE-CONDITIONING & MARKETING PROGRAM

THE FLEXIBLE, VALUE-ADDED PROGRAM

United Producers, Inc. has developed a flexible, value-added feeder calf program that can be utilized consistently across our territory by feeder calf producers who are members of the co-op.

A FLEXIBLE PROGRAM:

• We do not dictate how you must market your cattle to participate.

To enroll your cattle in the Yellow Tag Program:

PRE-CONDITIONING & MARKETING PROGRAM

Page 2: PRE-CONDITIONING & MARKETING PROGRAM · a. 2 rounds of Clostridial (7 Way Blackleg) b. 2 rounds of Haemophilus Somnus. c. 1 round of Pastuerella (both Mannheimia haemolytica and multocida)

UPI PROGRAMPRE-CONDITIONING PROTOCOLS AND VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS1. Calves must be owned by seller a minimum of 60 days.

2. Calves must be weaned at least 45 days.

3. Calves must be castrated (two testicles removed) and completely healed (knife castration recommended). If castration is done by banding method, the scrotal sac with both testicles must have fallen off.

4. Calves must be dehorned or tipped (behind the tip of the ear).

5. Calves must receive:

a. 2 rounds of Clostridial (7 Way Blackleg)

b. 2 rounds of Haemophilus Somnus

c. 1 round of Pastuerella (both Mannheimia haemolytica and multocida)

d. 2 rounds of IBR/P13/BVD types 1 and 2, BRSV (one round to be modified live)

6. Must be dewormed with injection or pour-on de-wormer.

7. Must control external parasites (lice and grubs).

8. Additional vaccines can be given and will be advertised at sale time.

9. It is recommended that the cattle be bunk-broke to increase their marketability. This is not a requirement but should be done if at all possible.

10. All female calves will be guaranteed open, and all male calves will be guaranteed to be castrated or banded (two testicles removed). If bred heifers or bulls (one or more testicle still present) are found and verified by a veterinarian within 60 days of the sale, $200 per head plus vet fees will be paid by the seller to the buyer of the cattle. Calves must retain the Yellow Tag for the guarantee to be valid.

11. UPI Yellow Tag Certification Document must be completed, signed and presented prior to delivery of the certified calves. If the certification document is not signed by a veterinarian, a receipt for the purchase of the vaccines and other products along with Lot number and Serial number off of the vaccine vials is required for certification.

12. UPI Yellow Tag Program ear tags may be purchased from your local UPI representative for $2 per tag. When the calves are marketed within the UPI network, you will be reimbursed $1 per head marketed. If you return tags that are not used and in usable condition (like new), you will be refunded the original $2 per tag purchase price. Only one ear tag is required per calf, and ear tags must be applied prior to delivery to UPI.
