What are we trying to do in this lab? (more detail in your lab manual, p.43-45)

• All the words you defined are properties of elements. They each have a trend as you move across or down the periodic table.

• You are going to cut straws to represent the value of your property for each of the main block elements (not the transition metals).

• Arrange these in a well plate in the same order as the periodic table.

• The spreadsheet will do the calculations (it’s online) – make sure all group members have an electronic copy before class ends today!

• Words/units go in blue boxes, numbers only go in yellow boxes.• Your textbook is often more efficient than webelements.com for

looking up numbers.
