We owe a great deal to the men and women who
have served our country in the military. This is
especially true when a young man or woman returns
from service and has difficulty adjusting to civilian
life due to pain or trauma. We need to do all we can
to help our veterans through challenging times. We
need to serve those who have served us so bravely.
With this in mind, we are opening sign ups for our Veterans Day
Weekend (November 10-13) Mission trip. We will be helping
out at the Veterans Restoration Quarters (VRQ) near Asheville,
NC. The VRQ provides housing, counseling, and job training to
roughly 240 men who have served America. Others of us will be
working with female veterans or in other worthy charities around
the Asheville area.
Everyone can go. Youth under 16 will need to go with a parent
or guardian (this is designed primarily as a family trip). We will
be staying at the Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain. Most
meals are covered. There will be some free time on Saturday to
group up and explore Asheville or to hike on the property. Cost
per person is only $100. Sign up and pay in the church office
(you are not signed up until you pay).
This is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages, different
Sunday School classes, and folks from both worship services to
come together as a church serving God by serving others! The
deadline for payment is September 1st. Please see me for further
details.
Peace,
Doug
Please prayerfully consider . . .
This year we have implemented
deacon care teams, and have asked
each deacon to take an active role in
congregational care and ministry. As
we begin the process of choosing new
deacons please consider these new
responsibilities. Deacon Nominations
will open on August 1st.
Deacon Nomination Forms will be
made available at worship this Sunday,
July 31st.

This summer, we’re inviting you to remember that God is with you, wherever you go! Take a picture
with a “God is Here” sign (available at church) in the places that you find God this summer, then send
the picture(s) to the church office or any of the ministers. We’ll share the pictures on Facebook and put
together a slideshow at the end of the summer!
