Message from the President
The WCPT Congress 2015 will be a unique event. It is an opportunity to share our passion for
the profession and to showcase the best of physical therapy from around the world. It will be acongress for every member of the profession giving clinicians, managers, educators, researchers
and policy makers the opportunity to engage with each other and to debate and discuss
important professional questions.
The programme of the WCPT Congress in Singapore will appeal to all physical therapists, from
wherever in the world you come and whatever your specific professional interest. Attending a
WCPT Congress is a unique experience, providing the chance to exchange ideas and knowledge
as a global community. While we come from diverse backgrounds and face a variety of
challenges, we have an enormous amount in common, and by meeting together we can find
solutions and create opportunities for development.
The countdown for the most influential international physical therapy gathering has now begun!
I hope that you will embrace the opportunity to extend knowledge, connect with friends andcolleagues and strengthen the bonds that hold us together as a profession.

Welcome to Singapore
The WCPT Congress 2015 kicks off with the opening ceremony and welcome reception on the evening of Friday 1stMay at 6:00 pm.
Join fellow delegates at this grand start and prepare to be entertained by acts showcasing the cultural mix that Singapore isuniquely placed to offer. Celebrate with your colleagues as WCPT announces the recipient of the Mildred Elson award, WCPTs
highest honour, and the winners of the awards for outstanding posters.
Keynote speaker
Goh Ah-Cheng will be the keynote speaker at the opening ceremony. Originally from Singapore
Dr Goh is Associate Professor at Shinshu University, Japan. Prior to moving to Japan, he
was the Chief Physiotherapist in the Singapore Armed Forces and a past President of the
Singapore Physiotherapy Association. Dr Goh is a Colombo Plan Scholar with more than 25
years experience as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist. He qualified as a physiotherapist from
Auckland, New Zealand, in 1981, and holds a Masters in Applied Science from the University of
Sydney, and a PhD from Curtin University, Australia.ISC Chair
Aime Stewart, International Scientific Committee chair,
will take you through the lead-up to the WCPT Congress
and inspire you for the days ahead. Aime s wealth of
experience has enabled her to shape the congress scientific
programme. Her main research areas of interest are the
management of chronic diseases including HIV/AIDS, as well as the roles of caregivers and
families in rehabilitation. In 2011 she was awarded the South African Department of Science and
Technology Distinguished Women in Science award.

Congress courses and clinical visits
Pre- and post-congress courses
Twenty-one pre- and post-congress courses will be held on the 1stand 5thMay 2015. They have a focus on applied knowledge and
skills and are uniquely designed to complement the main scientific programme. They offer the delegate the chance to:
gain practical experience
listen to the latest evidence and discover the
implications for practice
explore issues in depth
learn directly from experts via a range of
stimulating learning formats
meet with international fellow delegates in
their field of interest
The pre- and post-congress courses are an
optional element that are open to delegates who
register to attend at least one day of the main
congress and they carry a separate fee.

Clinical visits
The Singapore Physiotherapy Association has arranged for public and private institutions with physical therapy to open their doors
to visits by congress delegates.
Clinical visits are open to delegates who have registered for the full congress and carry a separate fee of SGD35. You can register for a
visit by area of interest.

Party night will take place at Gardens by the Bay in the Flower Field Hall and will include a visit to the Flower Dome - the worlds
largest columnless greenhouse. Get ready to enter a world of perpetual spring, where unique plants bloom in an ever changing
display of flowers. Two party night options have been made available, a dinner and dance, and a lower cost reception. Both take
place on the evening of Sunday 3rdMay.

Physiotherapy and rehabilitation in China (5th - 18thMay 2015, 1,995)
Departing from Singapore the day after congress ends, this tour examines
physiotherapy in China with specialist access to Chinese institutions and
local practitioners. The tour provides excellent insight into the application
of both traditional Chinese medicine and modern Western medical and
rehabilitation techniques.
