System Requirements and Software Download

Firstly, you should make sure that your computer has the following

basic configuration:

Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit)

Dual-core 2.66-GHz or faster Processor

Kinect for Xbox 360 or Kinect for Windows sensor

Secondly, you can visit our website (http://www.polyu.edu.hk/kinelabs)

for downloading required software via our "Download" page.

Install Kinect for Windows SDK 1.0

1. Visit "Kinect for Windows" website and download "SDK" package.

2. Click the downloaded "KinectSDK-v1.0-Setup.exe" file for starting

the installer.

3. (Optional) if your system is not yet installed with "Microsoft .NET

Framework 4.0 Client Profile", the installer will prompt you to install it

by clicking the "Accept & Install" button.

5. (Optional) to continue the installation process by accepting the

"License Terms" and clicking "Install".

8. To continue the "Kinect for Windows SDK" setup process, accept the

"Terms and Conditions" and click "Install" button.

9. (Optional) if your system is not yet installed with "Microsoft Visual

C++ 2010", the installer will prompt you to install it by accepting the

"License Terms" and clicking the "Install" button.

Setup of Kinect Sensor

Following the software installation, your computer should have drivers

ready for the Kinect sensor. Note that two types of Kinect sensors are

available in the market, namely “Kinect for Xbox 360” and “Kinect for

Windows”, our Kinelabs products support both of them.

The individual box-set of Kinect sensor includes a power supply, while

the bundled “Xbox360 + Kinect” game console does not provide such

power supply. If so, you need to buy one “Power supply for Kinect

sensor” for yourself. (http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore

1. Plug the transformer to the power supply socket and switch on the

power.

2. Connect the Kinect sensor with the power/USB cable.

3. Plug the USB connector of the Power/USB cable to one of USB ports

of your computer.

4. Once the Kinect sensor is connected, the system will install the

sensor’s drivers automatically. Note that you may check whether the

drivers are installed correctly. Go to “Start” “Control Panel”

“Device Manager”, and then locate a set of drivers under the

"Microsoft Kinect" folder.

Setting up Your Play Space

The most important things to remember when you set up your play

space are:

Put the sensor in a place where it can see you.

Don’t stand too close to the sensor or too far away.

Get stuff out of your way.

You can put your Kinect sensor below or just above your monitor, near

the edge of the table or stand. If you put it on the top of your monitor,

be sure to secure it with a clip! Remember, the game involves a lot of

movement; you want your sensor to be stable.

If you have a small play space, don’t worry! Here are some tips to help

you get the most fun out of your play time.

Choose Your Play Method

With the game, you can select your play style, which means you can sit

on the chair to play or stand to play.

If you want to sit on the chair and play the game, you need to place

your chair about 1.0 meter away from the sensor, then you can enjoy

the game!

Otherwise, if you want to stand up and play the game, you need to

stand about 1.8 meter away from the sensor, then the sensor can see

your full body, after that, you can enjoy the game.

If you can comfortably stand 2.4 meter away from the sensor, then two

people can play at the same time. You can select the Multi Player mode

in some of our games!

Lighting

You can play in dim lighting or bright lighting. But remember:

Direct sunlight might interfere with the sensor.

Good lighting helps the sensor recognize you.

Face the Sensor

The sensor wants to see you. It’s tracking your body, so it’s best if it can

see the whole front of you.

Give Each Other Space

When two of you are playing at once, try to give each other space. This

will ensure that:

Everyone can move freely.

There is no collision.

The technology that reads your body position will be able to tell

that you’re two separate people.

Position the Sensor Well

Remember, the sensor needs to see you clearly. If you happen to bump

the sensor, no worries! Just put it back where you want it and it will

recalibrate automatically.

Don’t Wear Floppy Clothes

If you’re wearing a jacket with big, floppy sleeves, a skirt, or a dress,

Kinect might think they’re extra body parts. When possible, wear

clothing that conforms to the basic shape of your body.

開始第一步

首先，您要知道到您的電腦配置，以下是基本要求：

Windows 7 (32 位元或 64 位元) 操作系統

雙核心 2.66GHz 或更快的處理器

Kinect for Xbox 360 或 Kinect for Windows 感應器

安裝 Kinect 感應器

安裝所需的軟件後，便要安裝 Kinect 感應器到您的電腦上。現時

Kinect 有兩種，一種是給 Xbox360 使用的，另一種是給電腦使用的，

我們的遊戲能夠支援兩種不同的 Kinect 感應器。

盒裝的 Kinect Sensor，附有獨立的電源供應器。你只需把 Kinect 連

接到電源，並連接 USB 到電腦。如果你擁有的是 Xbox360 + Kinect

捆綁版，你必須先行購買獨立的電源供應器（如圖）

3. 連接 Kinect 感應器後，電腦會自動安裝驅動程式。您可以到「開

始」「控制台」「裝置管理員」，查檢「Microsoft Kinect」文件

夾下的四個驅動程式是否存在。

設置遊戲空間

當您設置遊戲空間時，請記住：

把感應器放置在能讓它清楚看到您的地方。

別站在離感應器太近或太遠的地方。

別讓家具或大型物體妨礙到您的動作。

您可以把感應器放在顯示器下方或上面，靠近桌子或平台的邊緣。

如果您把感應器放在顯示器上面，請務必把它固定好，別掉來了！

請記住，遊戲都需要您做很多的動作，因此您絕對不希望感應器會

亂動。

如果您只有很少的遊戲空間，別擔心！以下是幾個能讓您充分利用

遊戲空間的秘訣。

選擇您的遊玩方式

在遊戲中，您可以選擇您的遊玩方式，這代表您可以坐在椅子上遊

玩或是站著遊玩。

如果您想坐在椅子上遊玩的遊戲，您需要把您的椅子放在離開感應

器大約 1 米的地方，之後沒有任何東西需要做；您可以在椅子上享

受遊戲了！

否則，如果您想站著遊玩的遊戲，您需要站在離開感應器大約 1.8

米的地方，讓感應器可以看到您的全身，之後，您便可以享受遊戲

了。

如果您可以舒服地站在離感應器 2.4 公尺遠的地方，那就可以讓兩

位玩家同時進行遊戲了。您隨時都可以加入遊戲，您要做的只是選

擇兩人遊玩模式，然後踏進感應器的視野就能開始玩了！

光線

無論是在昏暗還是明亮的光線中，感應器都可以正常運作，但請記

住：

直接照射的陽光可能會干擾感應器。

明亮的光線能讓感應器輕易地辨認您的身影。

面對感應器

感應器想要看見您，它會追蹤您的身影，因此最好能讓感應器看到

您的正面全身。

給彼此一點空間！

當兩位玩家同時進行遊戲時，請盡量給彼此一點空間，這樣可確

保：

每個人都可自由移動身體。

彼此都不會撞到對方。

感應器在辨認兩位玩家的身體位置時，可以辨識出兩個不同的

身影。

把感應器放好

請記住，感應器必須能清楚地看見您，但如果您不小心撞到感應器，

別擔心！只要把感應器放回原來的位置，感應器就會自動校正。

別穿會垂盪的寬鬆衣物

如果您穿了有寬大垂盪袖子的外套、裙子、或是洋裝時，感應器可

能會把它們視為多餘的身體部位。因此在進行遊戲時，請盡量穿著

較合身的衣物。
