Black Point Power Station
• CLP serves over 2.3 million customers , representing 80% of HK’s population
• The first power company in Hong Kong to incorporate natural gas into its fuel mix (1996)
• Black Point Power Station (2,500MW) is one of the largest gas-fired power stations in the world, with reliable operation for over 15 years
• Existing gas supply is from the Yacheng gas, Y13-1 field near Hainan Island. Gas is already depleting and new sources are needed.

Looking Ahead
• Complete the installation and commissioning of new gas receiving station and related plant modification work by end of 2012 and early 2013 respectively
• Set up dedicated operation and maintenance (O&M) team and associated systems to manage the new gas facilities
• Develop practices for operation, maintenance, asset management and safe working
• Provide training to the O&M team for safe operation
• Establish communication/coordination arrangement between gas suppliers and users for reliable operation
• Develop emergency response plan for various abnormal operational scenarios
