What are A-G classes?
Classes that students must complete by the end of
high school to be eligible to attend:
California State Universities (CSU)
Universities of California (UC)
There is a minimum of 15 classes which students
must take to meet the A-G requirements
For UC consideration, 11 of these courses must
be completed by the end of 11th grade.
Must receive a grade of “C” or better!

Once a year.
Take your Junior year so you qualify for National Merit Scholarship.
YOU must sign up, you are not automatically signed up.
$15 Ask about the fee waiver! (free and reduced lunch)
SAT/ACT
Exams are given 4 times a year.
We recommend you take both exams, twice.
Sign up Spring Junior year & Fall Senior year.
Colleges take your highest score.

CSU/UC Preparation Checklist
Take and pass A-G classes with a “C” or better!
Challenge yourself and take AP/Advance classes.
Talk to your parents/guardians, teachers, mentors, and counselor about college plans.
Research and visit colleges (keep in a binder).
Research scholarships and start applying NOW!
Join clubs and activities that interest you.
Volunteer at an organization in your community.
Prepare and register for PSAT, SAT and ACT.
Represent yourself as a college-bound student!!
Other Options After High School
Vocational/Trade Schools
• Private schools that provide specific skills Cosmetology, dental/medical assistance, paralegal, nursing,
culinary arts, massage therapy, pharmacy technology,
electrician, automotive, animator, aviation, cyber security, film,
fashion, plumbing, graphic designer, etc.
Military • Take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational
Assessment Battery) multi-aptitude test.
• Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard,
National Reserves.
Workforce • Research p/t and f/t job opportunities in your
community.
• Develop and polish your resume and cover letter.
• Athletes! Register now with the NCAA
Eligibility Center to play college sports. www.eligibilitycenter.org
• There are 16 core courses that you must take
to be eligible to play Division I or II.
