A hard thing for children to understand is that developing good work habits can make a big difference in reaching their dreams. Being on time, prepared to work, staying on task, keeping track of assignments, staying organized with agendas, and using self-control can help make dreams come true. We appreciate the help and support of our parents. We are looking forward to spring with warmer days and sunny skies. Our Spring Break begins March 15 th -19 th . Students return on Monday, March 22nd. Take time to enjoy your child during the break and read a good book! Dont forget to turn your clocks ahead on Sunday, March 14th. Hello Schmidt Sailors,

I have extended the deadline of the reading challenges. The First and Second Grade

Challenge is due March 5, and the 10 Book Challenge for grades 3-5 is due April 2. This

challenge is available to all students. It is on Canvas and can be picked up in the library.

Coming up in March:

Read Across America Week (March 1-5)

Book Clubs during lunch for those who have signed up:

Tuesdays – 5th Grade

Wednesdays – 3rd Grade

Fridays – 4th Grade

Celebrate Music in Our Schools Month

Celebrate Women’s History Month

ELearners – we still put the cart out every Friday if you have any books at home to return.

If you want to check books at, make sure you put them on hold by Thursday night. See

the Schmidt Media Center page on Canvas for more information.

Dear Parents,

Please update your residency information if you reside at a differ-ent address then when you enrolled your child at Hugo Schmidt Elementary please bring in proof of address.

Acceptable proof of residency is: homestead exemption, tax receipt, current electric bill, contract for purchase of home, lease agreement or warranty deed (2 proofs of address are required and addresses must match).

Please call the school office to set up an ap-pointment to complete the required form.

We appreciate your attention to this matter.

A Helping Hand From Our

Social Worker

We just finished our throwing unit.

We covered overhand, underhand,

and Frisbee throwing. The next lessons we will

cover are from a new unit for this year that deals

will all kinds of safety. It includes online safety,

substance safety, and stranger safety. I will be

sending out more information on Canvas once

we are ready to start these new lessons.
