Fun and Fizzy Science This is a fizzy, fun and easy science experiment that uses bi carb soda,

white vinegar and food colouring. Bi carb is a base and Vinegar is an acid -

what happens when the two come together? Hint: they neutralise each

other which create bubbles. Follow the links to see it for yourself. There

are two links; the first one is a simple experiment which only requires

three ingredients, the second link also encourages fine motor skills (check

if you have everything you need for this) Learning outcomes 4.2 Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem

solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and

investigating.

Resources Experiment 1: Play this clip on your iPad, iPhone, computer or TV

You will need cups, food colouring, bi carb, white vinegar, and a tray to catch

Cooking in the kitchen

Cooking is a great learning tool for children (and a great way to pass the time!) You could make muffins or get them to help you prepare for dinner. You may like to include other siblings into this activity by setting the children at a kitchen table or around a bench and each child can take a turn. If cooking isn't possible try getting children to help layer a sandwich or cut a banana, spread butter on their toast or pour their own milk. Children can learn measurement, quantities and weight even just by watching you cook.

Learning outcomes Learning Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence,
