• Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) is defined as a series of some of the equipment that is installed in a metal enclosure and insulated by pressurized gas.• In general, pressurized gas is sulfur hexafluoride used (SF6). Enclosure is a

protective sheath that serves to maintain the voltage of the outside environment.• Until now, as much as 80% SF6 gas produced worldwide is used as the

insulating medium in electrical systems. This is caused by the properties of SF6 gas as follows:

1. Thermal conductivity that are able to dissipate the heat caused by the equipment.

2. Excellent insulating.3. Able to extinguish arcing. 4. The low viscosity. 5. Stable, not easy to react.

• Impact that can be caused by disturbances on the bus if the disturbance is not immediately decided, among others, installation damage, the incidence of transient stability problems, and possible OCR and GFR in the system works so that disconnection spread.• Necessary requirements for busbar

protection are: • rapid disconnection time (the basic time) • Working for disturbances in the area of

protection. • Does not work for disturbance outside the

protection area. • Selective, just mentripkan PMT-PMT connected

to the affected section. • Imune against faulty work, because this

protection mentripkan many PMT.

• Main busbar current protection is differential relay, that function protect the busbar caused by fault.• Disorders of the busbar is relatively

low at less than 7% of the overall disturbance. When compared with interference on conductors, which is approximately 60% of the overall disturbance. However, the impact of the disorder on the busbar to be much larger than the conductor disorders, especially connected to the supply of GIS substations Waru big enough.

• GIS Substation is devided by 3 Bay Compartment. There are Couple Bay, Transmission Line Bay, and Transformator Bay. Each of them have some of components, such as:• Circuit Breaker (CB)• Disconnecting Switch (DS)• Current Transformer (CT)• Sealing End

• Tripping process caused SF6 low pressure has 2 types, there are:• Block Close, process of conductor tripping by current flow in a compartment

caused SF6 low pressure. This process on Couple Bay and Transformator Bay • Direct Trip Transmission, process of tripping in partner substation. This

process only on Transmission Line Bay.

• GIS Substation Waru using double busbar and single breaker configuration as a protection system• Busbar current protection using differential relay. It means the logic of

coordination between two relays, Bus Zone for Busbar A and B, and a relay as check zone• Busbar gas (SF6) protection, alarm be set at a pressure of 4.5 bar and

gives a chance trip to a pressure of 4 bar.
