HISTORY OF THE ASSOCIATION

The Association was founded in 1991 with the objective socio-cultural development and preservation of tangible and

intangible area of Sidi El Houari and Oran heritage, including:

The citizenship education and prevention of risky behaviors.

The training and socio-professional integration of young people.

The promotion of architectural and cultural tangible and intangible heritage.

The protection of the environment and quality of life and eco-citizenship.

Headquarters of the association:

It consists of a history that extends over 6,000 m2; consisting of the old camp hospital built in 1838 and Ottomans

baths built in 1708, located in the historic district of Sidi El Houari, discovered by group citizens in 1991 in a state of

abandonment and advanced degradation.

The SCHOOL SITE

Founded in 2011, licensed by the state in 2011 by order of the Oran Wali and management of vocational training No

21 of 04/01/2011.

It was created in 2003 to address socio-economic problems of school youth in vulnerable situations, for

social and vocational integration combined with the need to value our tangible and intangible heritage.

The objectives

Contribute to the preservation and rehabilitation of the historic heritage of Oran city.

Participate in the revival of traditional crafts of old buildings.

Train and entering the world of work young people outside the school system aged between 16 and

25 years.

School SDH works for the benefit of:

Young adolescents aged between 16 and 25.

Trainers of SDH school.

Artisans of Oran, Mostaganem and Ain Témouchent.

Students in architecture and civil engineering.

School capacity: 50 training places (boys and girls)

Main results from 2003 to 2014:

434 youth have been trained and certified.

177 young inserted including:

o 137 youth in restoration work on buildings in the historic center of Oran.

o 15 independent artisans.

o 25 employees in WOOD company.

05 youth enrolled in school construction in the position of Peer trainers.

The difficulties encountered by the School:

Lack of funding to ensure its sustainability.

The attraction of the informal market.

The slow administrative procedures to develop craft micro-enterprises.

The age issue as between 16 and 18 years the company has no right to appoint a young miner.

Our outlook:

Creating other schools in Oran.

Convention with the university.

Convention with different CAM Wilaya.

Training in the map for students and artisans.

Artisan training

Volunteer work / cleaning

More than 2,000 citizen volunteers from 1991 to date. are actively involved in projects organized by the association

to enhance the historic site. 1,800 tons of trash generated and discharged in 3 years.

Backup jobs performed

Thanks to a study held by a group of architects, engineers in civil engineering and historians, and the expertise of the

school SDH, backups work has been done to restore the historical site radiance. To date; 60% of the historic site is

rehabilitated, equipped, functional.

THE PROMOTION OF HERITAGE EVENTS

Throughout the year, various events are organized for the enhancement of architectural and cultural heritage of Oran

city. The many projects she leads have all looked to the preservation and improvement of our national heritage

through education for citizenship.

THE INTERNATIONAL FAIR OF TRADITIONAL CRAFTS

It was held from 8 to 10 June 2013 on the Republic Square in the historic district of Sidi El Houari, which aimed to

provide a platform and forum for visibility to domestic and foreign craftsmen to end promote knowledge to old.

INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON

"THE TRADITIONAL CRAFTS OF THE WINDOW AND IMPROVEMENT OF ARCHITECTURAL

HERITAGE"

On 17 and 18 November 2013 at University of Science Technology of Oran, to clear a multidisciplinary and

intersectoral approach and meet the challenges of heritage preservation and enhancement of teaching traditional

crafts whose future cultural, social and economic carries development and rapprochement between cultures and

generations.

WORLD PATRIMONY MONTH

April 18 to May 18

The association has been organizing for 13 years, an annual program at the Heritage Month, which includes thematic

conferences on heritage tours in the city of Oran, art exhibitions, and meetings discussions on the tangible and

intangible heritage, contests photographs and other activities to enhance our end of heritage legacy.

INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL CAMP

Every year in the summer (15 days) , the spring and winter (one week) these camps are spaces for youth exchange,

sharing associations experiences, technical and intercultural the goal is rehabilitation and preservation of old

buildings through technical workshops taught by peer educators.

POLE SOCIO CULTURAL OF SIDI EL HOUARI

It is the cultural and social lungs legendary district of Sidi El Houari. To promote the participation of young girls and

boys, the socio-cultural life in Oran by practical knowledge, skills, attitudes and values through educational
