Two Main Purposes

Planning
1. Who are you talking to?
2. Why are you talking to them?
3. What is the time duration?
4. What subject are you going to tell?
5. What does the audience already know about the subject?
Plan Your Presentation
1. Determine Purpose
2. Determine the Scope of the topic
3. Gather the required information
Preparing Outline
• 15 min Conference Presentation• 1- 2 minutes per slide
Structure of outline1.Title Slide (1) :- Title, author2.Rationale (1-2) :- Brief introduction of the topic
3.Methods (1-2) :- What you did 4.Results (2-4) :- What did you find and what
does it mean 5.Summary (1) :- One thing you want them to remember
Preparing - Slides
1. Use Images & Graphics2. Minimise text & numbers
3. Light text on dark background
4. Avoid distracting backgrounds
5. Use large fonts
6. Combine upper and lower case
7. Use colour to highlight text
8. Keep diagrams simple
9. Thick lines and large symbols
Practice
• Practice, practice, practice• Get feedback, and use it• Delete unnecessary information
Presentation Style
Vocal Techniques– Volume :How loud the sound is. The goal
is to be heard without shouting – Pitch :How high or low a note is– Rate :Speed of talking– Pause
Body Language • Eye Contact• Facial Expressions • Gestures• Posture

Presentation Style
Before Going for Presentation
1. Reach 15 minutes before your presentation starts.
2. Arrange the projector before the presentation
3. Make sure that copy of PPT is present on the machine
4. Keep Notes with you
5. Keep a glass of water in the room.
6. Finish on or under time
Performance
• Introduce Yourself
• Get Attention, Build More Rapport, Introduce Topic– Humor– Short Story– Starling Statistic– Make Audience Think
• Get Audience Response
