6. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product ? Looking back on the preliminary task and my final product I can see how far my group has progressed in both editing and filming. I have learnt how to develop and achieve different angles and camera shots. For example, in our prelim we only used three different shots; 180 degree rule, match on action, and shot reverse shot. In our final product, we used all three of these rules plus a range of different shots and angles such as pan and tilt.

Looking back on the preliminary task and my final product I can see how far my group has progressed in both editing and filming. I have learnt how to develop and achieve different angles and camera shots. For example, in our prelim we only used three different shots; 180 degree rule, match on action, and shot reverse shot. The prelim was an opportunity to become familiar with the equipment. If our group did not familiarise ourselves with it, we wouldn’t of been able to complete our media product to the best of our ability. For example, in our prelim we had to cut a lot of our footage, this meant that when it came to our main task it helped us know what we wanted to cut and keep in our product. As well as this, in our prelim we were uncertain on some of the tools that Imovie had to offer. However, we gradually learnt all the tools that could improve the quality of our film opening and make it seem more realistic. This includes transitions, fonts, colours, and sound.

Our film being a supernatural thriller meant that we wanted to follow the typical conventions within this genre. This meant that creating suspense within our film was key. We did this by producing music full of tension, speeding/slowing down different shots, and sticking to a dark colour scheme.
