WHAT IS THE CONFERENCE ABOUT
Despite the undeniable progress we have made in fighting cancerwe still do not know how to defeat this disease
DEFINITELY, IF WE WANT TO WIN THE BATTLE WE HAVE TO KNOW MORE IN DEPTH THE BIOLOGY OF CANCER CELLS
Major topics
Metabolism (sugar, fat, aminoacids) of cancer cells
Metabolic cross-talk between cancer cells and stromal cells
The role of stroma and of immune response in Cancer.
Oncogenes, oncosuppressors and Non Coding RNAs in Cancer
development
Role of diet and of microbiota in cancer progression and response to
therapy
Novel strategies for early non-invasive detection of cancer
Innovative strategies for cancer therapy.

Coming Special Issue “Biogenesis and functional roles of Lysosomes: implication in the pathogenesis and therapy of human diseases”Dear Colleagues,This Special Issue welcomes both original papers and review articles addressing the biogenesis and pathophysiological roles of lysosomes as specified on the homepage referred to above. In this Special Issue of IJMS, we want to offer a platform for high-quality publications on various aspects of Lysosome Biology. Topics include, but are not limited to:• Biogenesis of acidic compartments and their function in the cell• Trafficking of molecules and membranes among the endosomal-lysosomal organelles• Endocytosis and Exocytosis in cell communication• Biogenesis and function of exosomes• Lysosomes in cell survival and cell death pathways• Lysosomes and Autophagy• Lysosomes in development and embryomorphogenesis• Dysfunctional lysosomes in Human pathologies, with a special focus on autoimmune diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, lysosomal storage diseases, and cancer• Lysosomes as a therapeutic target in human diseases• Replacement gene therapy for lysosome dysfunctionProf. Ciro IsidoroGuest Editor

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS TO THE PERSONS WHO HAVE REALLY DONE THE JOB
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I wish to thank …
all the Speakers for having accepted the invitation, despite the short notice time and their busy schedule.
We thank the School of Medicine of Università del Piemonte Orientale and the University-Hospital “Maggiore della Carità” for hosting the event.
Special Thanks are due to the sponsoring Charity “Associazione italiana per la lotta contro Leucemie, Linfomi e Mielomi” di Novara (AIL) for the collaboration and support.
I am personally in debt to the Institutions that offered their kind support in the organization of the social events, and more in particular with the Municipality of Novara, the Agenzia per il Turismo Locale, the Conservatorio Musicale, the Fondazione Teatro “Carlo Coccia”, the Istituto Professionale G. Ravizza, and the Tipografia Italgrafica
More than one hundred and seventy participants have attended the Conference.
We are grateful to the Molecular Pathology Lab staff for their invaluable help in the practical management of all the organizational issues that such enthusiastic participation has inevitably posed.
More than that, I wish to thank the many persons who helped and supported with their enthusiasm and their dedication.
