A WORD FROM THE CHIEFS

Hello participants of the 2016 Fall Camporee,

We are Scouting in a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

First off let me just say thank you for coming and inspiring me to do this in the first place.

This Camporee was a lot of work and it was not easy, but with help from others we

accomplished the difficult challenge.

This Camporee was designed to be fun for everyone: youth, adults, and staff. We have a

lot of great activities planned for this campout, and for the first time in a few years

Lighthouse District and Pine Island District will be joining together to have one big Fall

Camporee.

It is our sincere hope that you have the time of your life and hope that you come back for

years to come.

Yours in Scouting,

Andrew Perez Jose Quintero Camporee Chief Adult Camporee Chief Patrick Galvis Karen Ludwig Camporee Vice-Chief Adult Camporee Vice-Chief Michelle Chiever Pine Island District Camping Chair

CAMPOREE RULES 1 Have fun!!! Live by the Scout Oath, Scout Law and Outdoor Code. 2 You may not participate in Boy Scout games or competitions if your eighteenth birthday is on or

before Sunday, Nov. 13th. You may not participate in Venture games or competitions if your twenty-first birthday is on or before Friday Nov. 11th.

3 Follow the ranger’s and camp rules. This means no alcohol, firearms, fireworks, etc. 4 Please pre-register with a good approximate count of campers and your payment. 5 The uniform for this Camporee’s games and unit competitions is a Class B activity shirt, shorts or

pants, and Scout type cap (if head covering is worn). Class A uniform will be worn for the campfires and Scout’s Own. .

6 Please attend the cracker-barrels Friday and Saturday evening. Many announcements are made there, and you might miss important program information if you are absent. (Pen and paper are a good idea). Attendance may count toward best overall, and spirit awards.

7 Everyone is to remain in their campsites after 11:00 PM, except for emergencies. This means no camp wide manhunt or capture the flag. You are not to leave your specific campsite, unless you are using your bathroom/latrine. Any behavior that does not follow the Scout Law (i.e. damaging other’s property, stealing, etc.) will result in the Scout being sent home.

8 Judging: Scouters who have been instructed as to the rules set by the Camporee staff will do all judging.

9 Times, as posted in the Camporee book, will be adhered to as best as possible. Any changes will be posted at Registration/Main Pavilion. It is the unit’s responsibility to check there for any changes.

10 Check-out Sunday morning will be done the same as in the past, except priority will be given to those attending Scout’s Own. Break down, clean and police your site. Each Unit will receive a public area to police. When done send a runner to Registration/Main Pavilion and a Campmaster or a Ranger will inspect your area. Camp Elmore vehicle policy will be followed. The ranger is the only person that can amend this policy. The Camporee staff has no say in this policy. Please do not hinder or delay your departure due to your inability to adhere to the rules. Be prepared!!

11 The Camporee staff reserves the right to change any of the information found in your Camporee booklet. Leadership skills require us to be able to improvise. We apologize in advance if this occurs. Camporee Chief’s decisions are final and binding. Your participation in any events secures your agreement to all the rules as stated.

12 All units are asked to provide two adults to donate one pint of blood each. This participation will provide you with points toward best overall. If your unit is unable to donate blood, there will be a service project. All units are also asked to provide one water jug for use by Camporee participants. Your unit number must be clearly marked on the cooler. The coolers will be used to provide drinks during the day. Please deliver and pick up coolers at Registration/Main Pavilion.

13 Each Scout and Scouter is asked to carry his or her own cups for the weekend. Your Camporee staff cannot provide cups for drinks. Expect hot weather and be prepared to keep your Scouts hydrated.

14 Please have your teams ready and at the unit events when the event starts. Previously this has caused delays in keeping on time, and unfortunately also disqualifications. Each patrol/den will be given an event card to have initialed at each event. The den/patrol leader will be in charge of this card and will turn them in at Registration/Main Pavilion by 4PM Saturday. All Event Cards must be in on time otherwise they will not be accepted.

15 Electronic devices are to be left at home.

PATROL EVENTS

Jedi Training Course

You are part of a new school of Padawans (jedi apprentices) and as a part of your training on controlling

the force you are required to pass an obstacle course in the least amount of time. This is a timed event.

The times of all patrol members will be added together to get a total time and then divided by the number

of members in the patrol to get an Average Time. Patrol Points will be awarded to the patrols based on

their Average times; with the most Patrol Points awarded to the patrol with the fastest time.

Destroy the Death Star

Your group of rebels is tasked with using a new machine developed specifically to destroy the Death Star.

You will launch objects to 3 circular targets, each farther away. Each target will have a point value.

Points will be earned each time your object lands within the circle. After your allotted number of

launches, points will be totaled for the patrol. Patrol Points will be awarded to the top 3 patrols, with the

patrol with highest total points, earning the highest number of Patrol Points.

Jedi Mind Games

As a part of your padawan training you will need to learn to focus your mind in order to control the force.

A table will be laid out with a number of objects covered by a cloth. The cloth will be lifted and your

patrol will have a given an amount of time to memorize as many objects as you can. After the time is up,

you will work together to compile a list. The patrol with the highest number of correct items will be

awarded the highest number of Patrol Points.

Save Chewy

Chewy has been injured during a battle with the imperial forces and it up to your patrol to save him. You

will need to do basic first aid (1st Class Rank Requirements). You will perform a 1

st Aid task, build a

stretcher (Patrols will need to provide the materials to build the stretcher) and carry Chewy (one of

your patrol members) to the next station where you will perform another 1st Aid task. You will continue

to do this until you carry Chewy across the finish line. Your Jedi Knight trainer will judge if you have

successfully completed your 1st Aid task before allowing you to move on to the next station. Every Patrol

Member must participate in the event. This is a timed event. Patrol Points will be awarded to the patrols

based on their final time; with the most Patrol Points awarded to the patrol with the fastest time.

Stop the Storm Troopers

You are in the middle of a battle with the storm troopers and are only armed with a new high-tech bow

and arrow that is capable of piercing their robotic armor. Each patrol member will be awarded the same

number of special arrows to shoot at the storm troopers. Every Patrol Member must participate in the

event. The total number of arrows used will be divided by the number of storm trooper targets destroyed

to get the average arrows/storm trooper. Patrol Points will be awarded to the top patrols based on the

lowest average of arrows/storm trooper.

In this event two patrols will compete head-to-head. Every Patrol Member must participate in the event.

Each patrol member will take a turn removing a block from the Imperial Base. The Patrol that causes the

rounds, the winning patrol will receive the highest number of Patrol Points.

BLOOD MOBILE As in our past camporees, the Chiefs believe that giving blood is a very important aspect of Scouting. The adults are asked to give blood from 10 AM to 2 PM Saturday Nov 12th, 2016. Each unit will receive points for every Scouter that donates blood, toward overall and spirit. Additionally, the Unit that donates the most blood will receive an award that honors their commitment. If your unit is unable to donate blood, there will be a service project.
