WHO WAS JOHNNY APPLESEED?

Real Name is John Chapman Known for introducing apple seeds. Born on September 26, 1774 in

Massachusetts. Died in Fort Wayne Indiana, in 1845.

WHAT DID HE DO?

Planted apple seeds and apple trees to much of the United States.

Owned many apple orchards Created many apple tree nurseries

from carefully picking places to plant the apple seeds and taking care of them.

Traveled all over, teaching people about apples.

TUESDAY: MAKE A GRAPHIC ORGANIZER AS A CLASS ON JOHNNY APPLESEED.

GET WITH A PARTNER. - WEDNESDAY’S ACTIVITY APPLE POEM ACTIVITY

Once you have a partner, sit quietly at your seat until I have passed out the activity.

While you are waiting quietly, please get out your crayons, markers, and scissors.

Apples; green, red, have seeds, fruit, healthy, grow on trees, healthy, sweet, bitter, core, round, stem,

With a partner, write a poem about apples.

In this poem, tell me everything you know about apples.

Example: Apples are fruit.They have many seeds.They grow on trees.

THURSDAY

We are going to make a Johnny Appleseed Costume after reading an Johnny Appleseed book.

You will need, - scissors - markers - construction paper - glue

Make a Johnny Appleseed hat. - first create the hat piece by using

construction paper, and forming a circle. Then we will add an handle to make it a pot.

Once you have all created your hats, I will pass out the cut out apple’s and you need to write your name on the apple. You can decorate it any way you would like.

FRIDAY

Present our costume and Johnny Appleseed activities from the week to our Principal, Mrs. Mayes.

I will assign who will show their apple poems and who will display their graphic organizers to Mrs. Mayes.

During Science, we will plant apple seeds, in small containers, and I the line leader for the day will be in charge of watering the seeds.
