DANIEL CHAPTER 9
Daniel's Seventy Weeks prophecy Daniel 9:24 "Seventy (weeks) have been decreed
for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place."
What are weeks? "Sevens" is what the word means. In Hebrew this word
doesn't have to mean a week, but means a group of seven. It can mean seven weeks, but it can also mean seven years. In this case the prophecy itself proves it to be years. So, 69 weeks is really 69 groups of seven years, or 483 years. This is proved in revelation when it says the tribulation period is seven years long. This same period is referred to in Daniel 9:27 as the seventieth week. (or the 7 year tribulation - 360 day year)
The problem with using our 365 day calendar year is that the Jews didn't use this. They used a 30 day month, and therefore a 360 day year, so we'll need to do some date conversions. (They added some days every x years to keep the calendar in line with the seasons)
WHAT ARE THE WEEKS?
Daniel 9:25 "So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree
to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven (sevens) and sixty two (sevens); it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress."
Different decrees to rebuild: Cyrus in 536BC (Ezra 1) (only rebuilt the temple) Artaxerces in 458BC (only the temple) Darius Artexerxes second decree in 445BC (Nehemiah 1-2) Month:
Nissan, 20th year of reign (Started reign in 465 BC - 20 = 445BC) On our calendar: March 14, 445BC
The forth decree must be the one the Bible is referring to, since it was the only one that allowed for the rebuilding of the city, plaza and moat. So, the starting date for the prophecy is 445BC. (Our calendar)
69 sevens = (69 * 7) or 483 years from decree to Messiah
Since the prophecy refers to Jewish years, convert the years to Jewish days so we can get the total number of days in the prophecy.
483 years * 12 months (30 day months) = 173880 days till the Messiah. We have to figure the days based on the Jewish month.
Based on charts, new moons, solar historical information, it is figured that Jesus triumphal entry (when he rode into Jerusalem on a donkey) was in April 6, AD32

HOW MANY DAYS
If Jesus is the Messiah, there must be 173,880 days between these two dates. Don't forget that we're figuring the days between two dates based on our Julian calendar, which the Jews didn't use. We're looking for 173880 days. Lets see...
March 14, 445 BC to April 6, 32AD = 477 years, 24 days
subtract one year since 1BC-1AD are the same year
= 476 years, 24 days between two dates Convert to days: 476 yrs * 365 days + 24
days = 173764 days Add leap years - 476/4 =119 173764 days + 119 leap year days =173883
Why isn't it 173800 days? An inaccuracy in our Julian/Gregorian
calendar shows our year to be 1/128th of a day too long.
. 1/128=0.0078125 . 0.0078125 * 476 years . = 3 extra days in our calendar between
the two dates . 173883 days - 3 extra days . = 173880 days

LESSON 9: THE MILLENNIUM
References to the Millennium OT passages - (Is. 11:4; Jer. 3:17; Zech 14:9) NT (Revelation 20 is the key chapter.) Satan is bound for 1000 years Rev 20:4 - All resurrected believers reign with
Christ for 1000 years. Rev 20:5 - the rest of the dead didn't come to
life until the thousand years were completed. Rev 20:7 - when the thousand years are
completed, Satan will be released from his prison.
Character of the millennium

so that he can no longer deceive men. Man can no longer say, “The devil made me do it.”

Why interpret these passages literally? There are some good reasons that these passages should be
interpreted literally, and not symbolically. The passages themselves don't give us any indication that they
are symbolic. The number 1000 is repeated many times, and no other symbolic
term is ever used to indicate some long period of time. If the Lord wanted us to know that it was a literal 1000 years,
how else could He have indicated this to us? If after reading verse after verse very literally say that "such and such an event will be 1000 years, and then the next thing will happen, lasting 1000 years, and then at the end of the 1000 years so and so..." we still say it's symbolic, I would submit that it would be impossible for the Lord to have told us that it was literal without using the word "literal 1000 years", and this doesn't happen in the Bible.
Different Millennial views
Different Millennial views Premillennialism - The view that endtimes.org holds, teaches that
there will be a literal 1000 year reign of Jesus Christ on the earth, and that it will begin a number of days after the second coming of Christ, which happens at the end of the tribulation. (The rapture views are different within Premillennialism)
Postmillennialism - Teaches that the 1000 years is not a literal thousand years, but a long period of time, and that the world will be Christianized by the gospel, thus bringing in the kingdom, and then a long period of peace call the millennium will ensue, ending with the second coming of Christ, and heaven.
Amillennialism - Teaches that the millennium is symbolic, that we have already realized the millennium, and that we will go directly into eternity at the second coming. No literal 1000 year reign of Christ after the second coming. Current day Amillennialism teaches that Christ's present position at the right hand of God fulfills the OT promises of the kingdom.
LESSON 10: THE MILLENIUM PART 2
Judgment of Israel It appears there will be regathering
of Israel. (Deut 30:1-8, Isaiah 11:11, 12; Jeremiah 23:7,8; Ezekiel 37:21-28; Matthew 23:37; 24:31). God will regather his people, purge the rebels and will cause Israel to know that He is indeed Lord. Ezekiel 20:33-44.
Both Ezekiel and Malachi use the image of the refiner’s furnace to depict the severe judgment of the Lord in purifying the Nation in that day. (Ezekiel 22:17-22, Malachi 3:2-5. God is going to save Israel as a nation, but there will be many apostate rebel in Israel who will be destroyed. (Matt. 25)
Judgment of the Nations
It appears that although the armies of the nations are destroyed as Christ comes, the nations themselves will not be destroyed. Matt 25:31-46
After Christ returns to earth and sits upon the throne of His glory, He will gather all nations before Him. The nations will be judged, according to this context:
Upon the way in which they have dealt with the Lord’s brethren according to the flesh, that is, with Israel.
In the present dispensation God’s direct dealings are with individuals and only nations in a providential way. In Old Testament times He dealt with the nations directly as well as with individuals and He will do so again in the coming kingdom.
The “sheep” nations do not receive personal salvation simply because they were kind to the Jews, for no sinner ever be justified by his works: these nations are permitted to enter into the earthly Kingdom of Christ as nations because of their treatment of Israel.
As to individuals, no doubt all out of every nation who oppose and reject the Lordship and Kingship of Christ will be destroyed from off the face of the earth.
Here is one problem concerning the judgment. As a result of the judgment we read: “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment; but the righteous into life eternal: Matt 25:16.
It appears that the unrighteous depart immediately into ever fire, prepared for the devil and his angels (v41).
There is apparently no place in the scheme of the book of Revelation for the casting of these people into the lake of fire before the millennium. However, it is not necessary to suppose that they are immediately cast into that place. They are judged as to their fitness to enter the earthly kingdom, and being found unfit are destroyed. They are then in the realm of the dead and will be in that company…
to be raised after the thousand years have expired (Revelation 20:5)
LESSON 11THE FINAL REVOLT OF SATAN
There will be death in the millennium, but if only the unsaved meet death during that time, there will be only unsaved people left in the state of death at the end of that period, since all of the righteous dead were raised at the second coming of Christ. Since there in no mention of the any righteous ones being found in the final resurrection, it would seem safe to conclude that there are none.
There’s a new world coming
We know that from such Bible verses as Matthew 25:31-46 that the millennial kingdom will begin with believers only. But apparently many of the children born during this period will not truly believe in Jesus as their Savior, and they will be deceived by Satan after he is loosed and will follow him.
Even though there’ll be great security, equality, prosperity, and peace, as well as perfect ecology and government, there’ll still be those who reject Christ and His forgiveness and secretly harbor rebellion in their hearts.
LESSON 12: THE GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT
The last judgment of God The final penalty to be meted out to
the unsaved who have experienced the first death is the second death. The execution of the penalty upon the unsaved as a result of their judgment is the casting of them in to the lake of fire which is the second death.
Subjects of the final resurrection
Although we do not understand the exact nature of the resurrection body of the unsaved or of the environment in which they stand when earth and heaven have fled away, we do know that all of the unsaved dead will stand before God in his final judgment.
The judge
The Judge of course is God, but scripture indicated that it will be God the Son who will be the final judge. Only the omniscient God is capable of passing final judgment and determining the eternal consequences of men’s actions. But this judge will not be some far-off Deity, separated by an infinity from finite man: He will the God-man, Christ Jesus. Although Christ said: “I judge no man” (John 8:15), He did not mean that He would not in the future judge men, for He also stated :
“For the Father judged no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son” (John 5:22). Peter declared of Christ: “And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of the quick and the dead” (Acts 10:42)
Paul testified to the same things: “Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained: whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead” (Acts 17:31). Every knee will bow and every tongue confess, not simply that God is God, but that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the father (Philippians 2:10)
LESSON 13: NEW HEAVEN, NEW EARTH
That there are degrees of punishment of the unsaved is plainly taught in the Scriptures: hence, the lake of fire could not mean annihilation, for there can be no degrees of non-entity. The fact that every man will be judged according to his works (Revelation 20:12), is sufficient proof of degrees of punishment, Christ laid down a principle of God’s judgment in Luke 12:47,48.
Their judgment is made on the basis of the books which are opened, being in two classifications. The book of life evidently refers to the roll of those who are saved and have eternal life. The other books mentioned as plural are the divine records of their works. The dead are judged on the basis of the records, and as in other final judgments, the sum of their works is now examined. It is noteworthy that all the final judgments are judgments of works. In the case of the judgment seat of Christ (II Cor. 5:10-11)
Believers are judged according to their works and rewarded. In Matthew 25:31-46 the Gentiles are judged according to their works in the sense that the works distinguish those who are saved, that is, the sheep, from those who are lost, the goats. Here the works evidently are such that salvation is not the issue but rather the degree of punishment, as there is no indication that nay righteous are found in this judgment.
The summary judgment is pronounced in verse 14 that “death and hell were cast into the lake of fire”. In a word, this means that all who died physically and were in Hades, the intermediate state, are here found unworthy and cast into the lake of fire. This is then described as “the second death”, which stand in antithesis to the first resurrection, or the eternal state of bliss, enjoyed by the saved. Both the wicked and the righteous in the eternal state are thus permanently assigned to their respective destinies.
The basis for the judgment is declared in v 15 to be whether their names were found written in the book of life. The phrase “whosoever was not found written in the book of life” connotes the careful search for the records to be sure that no mistake is made.
New heaven and new earth Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne,
and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
The most natural interpretation of the fact that earth and heaven flee away is that the present earth and heaven are destroyed and will be replaced by the new heaven and new earth.
This is also confirmed by the additional statement in 21:1 where John sees a new heaven and a new earth replacing the first heaven and the Bible seem to anticipate this future time when the present world will be destroyed. (Matt. 24:35, mark 13:31, Luke 16:17, 21:33, II Peter 3:10). According to this last reference, II Peter 3:10.
The Consummation
By the Consummation is meant the eternal state. It is the final picture that the Bible gives of the state of creation after the whole drama of God’s redemptive program has been completed. It is, we believe, what Paul calls “the dispensation of the fullness of the times”, (Ephesians 1:10) when God heads up in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth. It is synonymous with the new heavens and the new earth for which Peter was looking (I Peter 3:13)
And which are seen in Revelation 21 and 22. The Consummation will come after the last enemy, death, is completely robbed of it power (Corinthians 15:26)
Who is the bride of Christ 1. The Church which is the Body of Christ is
not the Bride, the Lamb’s wife, of Revelation 21:9. If there is any identification of the Bride it is with the twelve tribes of Israel. (21:12)
2. The Church which is His Body is the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 1:23), the fullness is that which fills up to completion, the complement. Christ, the Head, and the Church, the Body, make up the Mystical Christ. Redeemed Israel will be the bride of Christ.
