True to the spirit of the International Festival of Action Sports (FISE), FWS offers free events in the very heart of each host city. The festival atmosphere and the culture of Freestyle sports are always very much in tune with the cities in which they are held. For the general public there are stalls, and practical help and demonstrations for those wi-shing to take up an extreme sport. At each stage of the tour, riders have the opportunity to win points, earn significant prize money, and gain media exposure. Overall rankings are calculated at the end of the tour, determining the 2017 winner in each of the disciplines.
In 2017, the International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS) will also take part in the adventure and at every stage of FWS there will be a new leg of the Roller Freestyle World Cup. This year FISE is 20: it is proud to be able to share its passion with cultures from around the world.
BMX FREESTYLE, SKATEBOARD, MOUNTAIN BIKE (MTB), ROLLER FREESTYLE AND WAKEBOARD ARE THE MAIN SPORTS OF THE FISE WORLD SERIES (FWS), A WORLDWIDE ACTION SPORTS TOUR THAT GATHERS TOGETHER THE SPORTS’ BEST PROFESSIONAL AND AMATEUR ATHLETES.

FWSDISCIPLINES
FREESTYLE,EXTREME SPORTS,ACTION SPORTS
WHAT IS IT?
It’s a generic term that covers all Action sports disciplines. These disciplines defy gravity
by the performance of tricks on natural or artificial structures. Having its origins in Ska-
teboarding, which in turn arose out of Surf culture, Freestyle is practised in special areas
(Parks) or in a natural environment. Practitioners are called "riders".
UCI BMX FREESTYLE PARK WORLD CUP
This discipline is one of the most spectacular Action Sports. The athletes’ performances are judged on the basis of a performance in a park consisting of various structures, where the difficulty of the tricks chosen is as important as their quality and range. Making best use of the park and completing the maximum number of obstacles is important too. The legs of the editions of UCI* BMX Freestyle Park World Cup 2017 and UCI BMX Freestyle land World Cup 2017 will be held jointly on the FWS international circuit.

SKATEBOARDSTREETThe DNA of Freestyle sports… This discipline comes from California and is the child of Surf culture. At first just a way of getting from one place to another, it boomed as a Freestyle sport in the ’80s. Today, it is the most widespread board sport. It is literally everywhere: in fashion, advertising, art and lifestyle. It really is a way of life.

FIRS ROLLERFREESTYLE WORLD CUPAthletes follow the figures on a Slopestyle-type course or on a Park made of structures designed for performing tricks. Whatever the obstacle, Roller combines high speeds with a very dynamic show. This year, the collaboration between FISE and FIRS (Inter-national Roller Sports Federation) will establish the World Roller Freestyle World Cup, raising the stakes for the riders. Montpellier Roller Slopestyle WorldCup is qualifying for the Nankin Worldwide Championship in next September. For men, there are two pos-sibilities to enter in the championship: be one of the FWS 2016 best riders or qualify on the Slopestyle competition at the FWS Montpellier this year.

MOUNTAIN BIKE SLOPESTYLEOriginally a mountain sport, MTB Slopestyle is performed on a course built to reproduce features of the natural environment. Riders are rated accor-ding to the technical difficulty of the tricks, the quality and range of their performance. This sport offers a breath-taking spectacle because of the massive structures and the height and speed of the tricks. The FMB Wor-ld Tour is the official international circuit of professional Freeride Mountain Bike competitions in the disciplines Dirt Jump, Big Air, Slopestyle and Big Mountain governed by the Freeride Mountain Bike Association e.V.

STAGEEXCLUSIVES
THESE DISCIPLINES WILL NOT BE FEATURE AT ALL STOPS AND DOES NOT COUNT FOR THE OVERALL RANKING.
The Spine Ramp consists of two 3-metre-high ramps with a double copping (spine) of 2.2 metres in the middle, forming a W shape. This allows athletes to create a bigger range of tricks on either side of the double ramp. Action Sports such as BMX, Scooter and Roller use the Spine Ramp to do im-pressive performances.
SPINE RAMP
The size and shape of these structures are very different from those that confront Park event riders, although the judging criteria are similar. The pure technicality of tricks is of utmost importance, more so than the range. As at FISE Montpellier, BMX athletes take ideas from skaters and their seasoned audience is very appreciative of each run (pass).
BMX STREET
Wakeboard, which started in the early 1980s, can be defined as a cross between Waterski and Snowboard. The riders were originally pulled behind a boat and the sport has evol-ved as a result. It has been extended by the use of ski lifts, and a range of different kicks, rails or walls where athletes do tricks. During the Montpellier stage, the Wakepark is set up on the area of the Lez in front of the Hotel de Region. The public gather on the banks, where they will be able to encou-rage participants, who will benefit from a 25,000m3 artificial lake with a dozen structures and a Wakestation ski lift.

The cooperation between Honor and FISE began in 2014 du-ring the first stage of FISE organised in Chengdu, China. The 5-metre high ‘loop’, formed like a bracelet, was already an event highlight.
