I have reprinted it for you in full below and acknowledge Laura’s achievement as very impressive for one so young. I just wanted to send you an email regarding my daughter Laura. For the past couple of years she has been organising a Clean Up Australia Site in our local neighbourhood. She registers the site on-line (with my permission). She makes posters to hang up around our neighbouring streets, designs, prints and organises a letterbox drop to let our neighbours know when and what time the event will be held, and then organises the bags, registration forms etc on the day. The first year volunteers came from different areas of the coast, as the site is officially registered on the Clean Up Australia site. They were impressed that a 7 year old would feel the need to organise such an event. That year we managed to remove a huge number of bags of rubbish, building material, household rubbish etc from our local park. This year not as many volunteers turned up, but guess what we didn't have nearly as much rubbish to remove. I think by organising this clean up, and making our local park look so much better, the neighbours have been more inclined to take care of it. I ‘d like to thank the school for organising the school cleanups, as I feel this is what sparked her interest in cleaning up her local environment and I am sure she will continue to do so in the years to come. I am so proud of my daughter for her stand on different environmental issues and thank the school for the valuable education they have given her in this area. Fun Run Each year we participate in many sporting events. Students at our school have a great tradition of joining in and having a go and very often doing very well too! We have just had a very successful swimming carnival and thank a new member of staff, Mrs Donna Judd, for introducing new software to help us run our carnivals better. Coming up is our regular cross-country event, which is usually run for students 8 years and over. This year we are going to include our younger students and make this a fundraising fun run. Teachers are keen to get new technology to assist in curriculum delivery and our students are keen for sport what a great way to combine fitness and fundraising. Mrs Judi Armstrong who is both a keen runner and user of educational technology will be co- ordinating the event. Going home with the newsletter will be an information pack that includes a sponsorship form. Start collecting sponsors and dust off your runners and start training for fundraising and fitness! Fantastic Environmental Citizen It is great to have received the following from a proud mum about her daughter’s commitment to the environment and the real life application of what she has learned at school and from home.

Teachers are keen to get new technology to assist in curriculum delivery and our students are keen for sport – what a great way to combine fitness and fundraising. Mrs Judi Armstrong who is both a keen runner and user of educational technology will be co-ordinating the event.

Going home with the newsletter will be an information pack that includes a sponsorship form. Start collecting sponsors and dust off your runners and start training for fundraising and fitness!

The brain is part of the nervous system. Without it you would simply not survive.

I learnt that Jonathon Piper (who was a ship builder) helped William Davis with ship building. Also I learnt that the lungs are part of two systems called the cardio vascular system and the respiratory system.

Connor

This week I have learnt about the heart and that it pumps about 1000 times each day and if it didn’t you would die. I have also learnt that George Frost had his own private race track. Finally I have learnt that the heart is protected by a ribcage. Mikayla V Heart every drop of blood counts An organ that pumps blood around your body Really cool The arteries take blood away from your heart Caitlin We have been learning a lot about the human body such as the heart, brain veins and so on. The human body is something interesting to talk about. Jye I learnt that the circulatory system is also called the cardiovascular system and that the heart pumps more than 1000 times a day. Mikayla C Heart of the body, pumps blood for your lifetime Every drop of blood takes 27 seconds to get out of your heart and back A system which is called the circulatory system Really cool! The arteries take blood away from your heart Summer Hearts pump blood all around your body Especially good Arteries take blood away from your heart Really important The heart pumps blood to organs and muscles Emily Heart is an important organ in your body. It pumps blood to all bits of your body Even to the lungs so it can pick up oxygen and take it to all organs All people have to have a heart so oxygen and lots more things in the blood can get to all body parts. Running makes your heart pump faster because you breathe in more oxygen The heart is very important to the human body Rowan Brown

Kincumber P S will be holding an adidas School Fun-Run as a major fund-

raising event this year. The event will be held on Friday 6 May at Frost

Reserve.

The adidas School Fun-Run is a healthy, fun and active fundraiser that ensures we send the right message to our students about getting active, having fun and

maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The main focus of this event is on participation. Family support is most appreciated as we encourage all students to get involved.

All students have received a Sponsorship Form to help collect sponsorship on

behalf of the school. The funds raised will be used to purchase Interactive White-boards for classrooms.

We ask all parents to read the Sponsorship Form and sign the front page to grant

permission to fundraise and participate in this event. Students who raise just $10 or more will receive a reward for effort. In the Sponsorship Form you will find

many other benefits also, such as free movies and the chance to win a family holiday in Hawaii!

Students wanting to train for our event and to receive advice from sporting

heroes like Jonathan Brown, Scott Prince, Sally Pearson and other elite adidas athletes can do so by visiting schoolfunrun.com.au/miadizone.

As an extra reward for choosing a healthy fundraiser, adidas would like to do-

nate 5% of all adidas footwear sales from The Athletes Foot to our school this year. So whenever you need new shoes we encourage you to visit The Athletes

Foot and ask about adidas footwear. ANYONE can participate so make it a team effort and recruit friends and family too! All you need to do is return your sales

receipt to our school by November 2011 so we can redeem this extra donation.

Finally, we would like to welcome parents and family members to attend the adi-das School Fun-Run event day at the school on Friday 6th May to help cheer on

the students.

Thank you, good luck and happy fundraising!
