The areas and road closures may have an impact on our accessibility to some of Club Claims. Please try to attend one of their public meetings to represent our club. Take your map pack, ask questions about closures, and become informed. Your participation and feedback could make a difference. Below are the meeting dates and times: The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Hassayampa Field Office will hold two public meetings in early-May to gather public input on the draft Black Canyon Corridor Travel Management Plan and Environmental Assessment. The documents will be released on April 23, 2018 for 30-days public review and input. The first meeting will be held May 2, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Deer Valley Community Center located at 2001 W. Wahalla Lane, in Phoenix, Arizona. President’s Corner

I would like to address the proposed Black Canyon Corridor Travel Management Plan that the BLM is cur-rently moving forward on. The areas and road closures may have an impact on our accessibility to some of Club Claims. Please try to attend one of their public meetings to represent our club. Take your map pack, ask questions about closures, and become informed. Your participation and feedback could make a difference. Below are the meeting dates and times:

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Hassayampa Field Office will hold two public meetings in early-May to gather public input on the draft Black Canyon Corridor Travel Management Plan and Environmental Assessment. The documents will be released on April 23, 2018 for 30-days public review and input. The first meeting will be held May 2, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Deer Valley Community Center located at 2001 W. Wahalla Lane, in Phoenix, Arizona. The second meeting will be held May 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Mayer High School (old library) located at 17300 E. Mule Deer Drive, in Spring Valley, Arizona. “The purpose of travel management planning is to ensure the availability of appropriate access to and across public lands for a variety of uses. Public input up to and beyond this point is key to the success of our planning,” said BLM Phoenix District Manger Leon Thomas. The plan encompasses the communities of Black Canyon City, Mayer, New River and Dewey-Humboldt in Yavapai and Maricopa counties, covering the Upper Agua Fria River, Bumble Bee and Lower Black Canyon Trail travel management areas. At the open house-style meetings, maps of the travel network alternatives will be available for review and BLM staff will be available to answer questions and receive comments. The 30-day public comment period is from April 23 until May 22. Stakeholders are encouraged to submit their comments for the record through the BLM online land use planning tool, ePlanning, at the following Internet address: https://go.usa.gov/ xnp5H. Written comments may be mailed to the Hassayampa Field Office, 21605 N. 7th Ave., Phoenix, Arizona 85027, faxed to (623) 580-5580, or emailed to [email protected].

As we now are experiencing 100-degree days, the fire danger is rapidly increasing. Check all restrictions be-fore heading out and take lots of water. Also, we are holding a Sealed Bid Auction for 4 Claims that will be awarded to the highest bidder. See the Auction Guidelines within this newsletter. We are continuing to add new claims to our Club Portfolio and will bring you more details soon. Happy prospecting and be safe out there! Bob Hood Vice President

RRPC'S ANNUAL SPRING PICNIC Remember that old song, "Oh, What A Feeling?” Well! Many members are hooked on it! This year’s Spring Picnic brought a feeling of love, laughter, new fun games, and teamwork. Sunshine, blue sky, and cool breezes filled our spirits as we started off with a special and warm welcome to those members who came out to share and enjoy the day followed by our Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. The potluck tables were filled with delicious homemade dishes and refreshing drinks. The competition to win a nugget was very hearty between the Men's and Women's panning and pan toss contests. To add to the fun and competition, the Jel-ly Bean Spitting game highlighted the afternoon with surprise and laughter. The 50/50 Nugget Bucket gave a big smile to many members. Remember that feeling of fun, laughter, tasty dishes, competition and love, and may it be with your always! Hope to see you all at next year's Spring Picnic. A special thanks to all those members present at the picnic that helped with clean up and loading supplies. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you again soon in sharing in the teamwork and fun of our club events.

Alaska Gold trip July 12 – 25, 2019 to Nome, Alaska. AKAU Alaska Gold & Resort

(www.akaugold.com) Wanted: Members interested in going to AKAU gold camp in Nome, Alaska. If we can get 20 members (maximum 22) per week signed up by the end of May 2018 this year we would get a reduced weekly rate. The regular rate is $2400 per week they would re-duce it to $1400 per week. Most of the members I have talked to would like to stay two

weeks straight and for members wanting to stay just one week you could stay the first or sec-ond week. First week would be July 12-18 and the second week would be July 19-25. The required deposit is $325/week or $650 for two weeks due by June 30, 2018. Airfare is NOT included and currently runs about $1200 round trip which you would need to arrange. Space is limited so first come first serve for reservations, tentatively 15 people are planning to go

already. For more information contact Brian Bierman [email protected] or 440-570-5371 please call in the evening since I work full time or text me. (This is not sponsored by the RRPC)

CALLING ALL SHOVELS! Roadrunners, we're planning upcoming BACKHOE digs for you in the fall of 2018 and the spring of 2019. Make it happen by recommending claims where you've found gold. The infor-mation we need is the Claim name and GPS coordinates for your suggested dig areas. Maxi-mum four per site. We need your feet on the ground and quick responses. We are ALL volunteers. Backhoe digs will happen with your input and participation. Bob Hood and Les Glover file reams of required paperwork and then it can take months to receive the required N.O.I. (Notice of Intent) to proceed with a dig. In addition, RRPC posts a $$$ bond to guarantee the BLM requirements will be met. Yes, only BLM allows backhoe digs. Prescott National Forrest does NOT allows backhoe digs on our claims. NO time to waste. Let's fill up the calendar with great group events. The focus will be on accessibility by most members when selecting dig sites. Have any of you tried our new claims? Any thoughts for a dig on them? Call anytime with your suggestions. We appreciate your help! Gentles - [email protected] or Wilson/Hanson - [email protected]
