1. Chief of state The president is the

Ceremonial head of the Government of the United States.

2. Chief Executive The president enters office with an agenda

-- where he or she wants to lead the country -- and uses the resources available to carry out that agenda.

(1) To enforce federal laws, treaties, and federal court rulings.

(2) To develop federal policies. (3) To prepare the national budget. (4) To appoint federal officials.

3. Chief Administrator

The president directs an administration that employs over 2.7 million civilians.

spokesperson to the rest of the world.

uniform and the nations entire military arsenal are subject to the presidents direct and immediate control.

6. Chief Legislator He is seen as the main architect of

public policy since he is the one who sets the congressional agenda.

He initiates, suggests, requests, insists and demands that congress enact much of its major legislation.

Depending on the party that is in control of congress this can be easier said than done.

7. Chief of Party

By being voted into the executive office he is seen as the leader of his/her political party.
