Thank you to all that helped make last year a success for the Baton Rouge Chapter. The participation of the members, our Corporate Sponsors, hard work from the Board, golf committee, Clay Shoot committee, Math-Counts Volunteers, etc. all collectively made last year another great year for the Baton Rouge Chapter. Prior to writing this article, I reviewed previous archived copies of this newsletter to get some ideas on what I would need to discuss. It was in that process that it was clear to me that 1) I am honored to be President of the Baton Rouge Chapter and be listed among those great Presidents before me, and 2) I am fortunate and extremely thankful to have such a quality Board to support me and the Baton Rouge Chapter this year. These board members for 2016-2017 are: Carolina Herrera, PE - President Elect Lynne Roussel, PE - Vice President Kevin Beyer, PE - Secretary/Treasurer Michael Somme, PE - Young Member Chair Gregory Trahan, PE – Director Andy Shread, PE, PLS - Director Jacob Loeske, PE - Past President I want to especially thank last year’s president Jacob Loeske for his dedication and leadership last year. His organization and mentorship will make things easier for the Board and I. He has continued to help lead the Board through these first couple of months of the LES 2016/2017 year. Also, many thanks to last year’s Past President, Chad Bacas. Chad has been so active in LES in the past several years that it has been a challenge to completely delegate all of his old duties from him to others. The Board of Directors has been busy setting the schedule for events for the upcoming year and securing our Corporate Sponsors. This year’s Cooperate Sponsors can be found in the back end of this newsletter. The events for this year include general meetings, joint luncheons with organizations such as ASCE and AP-WA, LSU/SU Student Function, East Baton Rouge Mayoral Candidate Forum, Annual Sporting Clay Tourna-ment, Annual Golf Tournament, MathCounts Competition, and our Annual Engineering Week Banquet. Our first LES Luncheon will be Thursday September, 22 at Ralph and Kacoo’s. David Rhorer of the Down-town Development District will be the guest speaker. Chances are that if you are reading this article, you are probably already a member of LES. If I am correct, then thank you for being a member and I encourage you to both attend as many LES events that you can this year. Also, please see if you can recruit some potential new members around your office to tag along with you to an event. The Board and I look forward to another great year. Thank you, Shaun Sherrow
