While it is not listed in your job description, you are a leader inside and outside of your club. You are a role model at all times. You should always be presentable, optimistic, and ready to help.

Presiding as Pres!One of the greatest duties of the president is to

run your club's meetings. Example:

Call the meeting to order.Pledge of Allegiance. Host an icebreaker to energize the members. Cover all upcoming events by using a PowerPoint Presentation or other resource. Allow guest speakers to present.Have the members recite the Key Club Pledge andAdjourn the meeting.

Growth and Retention is KEY!

Growth:President should work to increase the overall size of his or her club.Establish membership growth goals and host membership drives.Encourage your members to share Key Club with a friend.

Retention:Keep the members up-beat, interested, and keep the service coming, after all, you’re in Key Club for service, and the chance to make a difference.

Monthly Responsibilities

Meetings:• Schedule• Organize• Attend ALL• Create agenda/presentation• Hold FREQUENT Officer meetings• Attend committee meetings

Maintain contact with your Kiwanis Advisor and Lieutenant Governor through email or in person.There should be at least one officer at ALL projects.

Annual Responsibilities

Work to increase membership and develop retention plans.

Improve K-Family Relationships with your sponsoring Kiwanis Club and other associated clubs.

Elect and train new officers. Help to plan service projects for the entire year,

including the summer. Review educational material for yourself and

other officers. Attend DCON at the beginning and end of your

term. Assist secretary with Pride Reports, OIS Forms,

and the Annual Achievement Report. Assist the treasurer with dues collection. Send at least two delegates to DCON and ICON.

Committees Anyone?

Committees are not only helpful, but necessary.Successful committees need:

President is an ex-officio officer of every committee and should attend, not run, every meeting.

Advisors and Kiwanians!

Kiwanis Advisor and Faculty Advisor are both ex-officio members of your board. The “key” to a successful working relationship with them is to ask for advice and include them in the decision making The Kiwanis Club is your greatest resource; they can provide service projects and sometimes even assist the club in paying for a few expenses, such as DCON.ALWAYS show your appreciation for your advisors and Kiwanis Clubs!
