Church Staff Updates
When Jesus sent people out into ministry, he sent them out in twos. He did not expect them to minister alone (Mark 6:7). Hence, teamwork is an invaluable part of church ministry. Two are better than one, because together they can work more effectively (Ecc. 4:9).
One of my greatest joys these first 15 months as your Senior Pastor has been in providing leadership to your church staff. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we continue to build a team of God-called leaders who possess the right balance of experience, skill sets, and spiritual gifts needed for working effectively together at FBCC.
Since the coronavirus outbreak in March, our church ministry staff has worked more closely together to collaborate in worship and ministry planning. Meeting twice weekly for prayer and planning, we have created an even tighter bond of unity and mutual support. Here is an update on some recent news and developments:
Our Music Director, Keeley Tarkington, is now only two weeks away from her anticipated delivery date. Due to coronavirus risks, the doctor has advised her to work from home for her last two weeks of pregnancy, so Rev. Stephen Nance will be stepping in to provide leadership in our morning worship services. He will continue to lead our music during the first six weeks of Keeley’s maternity leave.
Our Pastor of Students, Jill Martin-Prouty, plans to take her final two weeks of maternity leave Aug. 25- Sept. 8. This will help during the transition of her husband Michael’s return to teaching and their first child Kenley’s entry into daycare at our CDC.
Our Director of Children’s Ministries, Stephanie Parker, has returned to school for continuing education. She is pursuing a Certificate in Preschool and Children’s Ministry at Campbell University. The 12 credit hours that she earns can be used towards a Master of Christian Ministry or Master of Divinity degree if she chooses to pursue theological education in the future. An Ordination Council will convene Aug. 29 at FBC in regards to recommending Stephanie for ordination into Christian ministry.
Our search for a part-time Minister of Senior Adults has been temporarily delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The search will resume once our abilities to gather in person resume.
Please note that our Administrative Assistant, Terry McCallum, has increased her office hours as we slowly seek to re-open safely. She is now working at the Church Office M-T 8:30 am- 5:00 pm and W-Th 8:30 am to Noon. On Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and Friday mornings she is available to respond to your calls and emails that are routed to her at home.
Financial Administrator, Tommy Bedford, continues to work in the office on Mondays and Thursdays.
We are blessed to have such a competent and unified church staff. Pray for them as they seek to provide leadership and direction as a new church year begins Sept. 1.
Blessings,

Adult Zoom Wednesday Night Bible Study
“The Beatitudes”
September 16-October 21, 2020 6:30 pm
Everybody wants to be happy. Whether you’re young or old, rich or poor—everyone wants to find happiness in life. But just because you’re a Christian doesn’t mean that you’re experiencing daily the full blessings that God intends. In The Beatitudes, we find Jesus’ prescription for happiness. Dr. Clipp will lead us into a study of the eight Beatitudes that Jesus gives Christians to help us order our thoughts, words, and actions so that we can experience the fullness of God’s love and grace. Currently, this is scheduled to begin as a Zoom Bible Study on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm from September 16-October 21. More details to come…...
