Even before he started Pangea, Ben always had an interest in the seafood industry. Graduating with a B.A. in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island, Ben started his career working on the Moonstone Oyster Farm from 1997 - 1998. From 1998 - 2001, he worked in sales at Captain Marden’s Seafood for the company’s retail and wholesale operations. In September 2001, he decided to open Pangea’s doors as a one-man show. Ben built many positive relationships with his customers, and the company grew quickly. Selling shellfish was exciting, but Ben still wanted to be an oyster grower after his time on the Moonstone Oyster Farm. In 2010, Ben finally fulfilled his long-time dream by acquiring a small oyster farm in Duxbury, MA. With over 17 years of experience in the oyster business, Ben has become a trusted source on industry issues. He has appeared in SeaFood Business, SeafoodSource.com, WCVB-Boston, The Financial Times, Boston Herald, and The Boston Globe.
