Ashley Cairney Q&A

Hi Ashley, can you tell us a bit about yourself please? I am a mother, wife and lady in business. I am a born and bred Jersey girl – my family are all Jersey born even back to my great grandparents and beyond. I have lived in Jersey my whole life apart from 2 years for University and even then I found a way to travel home weekly. I married my childhood sweetheart who I have been with since I was 17 years old. I am the mother of two beautiful boys who are now 2 and 3 and they are my world. Family is everything to me and living such a busy life it doesn’t leave much time for anything else. How would your friends & family describe you? Loyal, kind, caring, fun, loving but doesn’t take sh*t from anyone. If people are not the same in return, then they are cut out. Period. I have always been a tough cookie but having children has definitely softened me and changed my approach to life. What do you love about your life on Jersey? My family and how beautiful and safe it is to live here. How unique it is - there is nowhere else like it. The beautiful summers, everywhere is so close. How did it feel to be asked to be in The Real Housewives of Jersey? It all happened so quickly, I almost didn’t have time for it to sink in. I like to experience new things and knew I would love a new project. I wanted to turn the lock down year into something positive and hoped it could potentially lead to some really exciting things for me and my family. How did your family/friends react when they found out about the show? Some ran a mile and others were excited. All my immediate family were very supportive of my decision. There were also a lot of warnings from close friends but sometimes you have to go out your comfort zone to see what opportunities are on the horizon. What can we look forward to from YOU this season? Having lots of fun and giving everything a go, 100%. My honesty, consistency and dealing with situations head on. What has been your funniest moment on the show this season? It has to be being flung 10ft in the air on a bungee ride. Tessa surprised us all with a fabulous carnival

night and it was such a laugh. I was NOT prepared for how much that bungee would pull me back off

my feet. But, like in life, I bounced back up (with a glass of champagne in hand!)

Have you learnt anything new or tried out anything new filming this season? I tried Kayaking for the first time. I’m not much of a water baby but when one of the girls asked me to get involved in a charity sea event, I gave it a go. Sadly I was terrible at it but I gave it my best shot! I also tried a raw oyster for the first time, but I can’t say that was my most glamorous of moments as there was no keeping it down and I vomited it straight back up - slimy and salty - yuk! How do you think Jersey residents will react when they see the show? I think there will always be mixed reactions but on the whole, I think they will be excited to see their island on the big screen, showing off all it has to offer which is so much more then what most would think. Maybe people can stop asking me if we have electricity after the show airs! What do you think you bring to the show that no one else does? I am the only Jersey born and bred housewife. I am the youngest housewife by about 15 years, and we are a self-made, hardworking, young family.

Page 6: PRESS PACK - ITV Hub

P a g e | 6

How do you fit into the friendship group of the Housewives? Oh god, I don’t really fit in I am just me, take it or leave it. I think I was the one that nearly everyone liked. Who would you say you’re closest to in the cast and why? I got on with nearly everyone but I spent the most time with Hedi and Tessa and had a lot in common with them. They are both hard working, down to earth family ladies and our life morals are similar. Who have you enjoyed getting to know the most? I honestly really enjoyed getting to know nearly all the ladies. Each of them I had things in common with and I think they respected that I always spoke to their face and never behind their backs. Which two other Jersey Housewives would you take to a desert island and why? Tessa because she would have the contacts to get us out of there swiftly and probably look fabulous in the process and Hedi because she is at one with nature and would show us what plants we could eat to survive or at least do a great yoga session along with a massage.

How would you describe your fashion style? On trend, glam but also relaxed when I’m with the kids as it has to be practical.

How do you like to arrive to a party? With a glass of my pink champagne in hand and a smile on my face. On time! Who do you think would play you in a movie any why? Sandra Bullock. This is based on her role in Miss Congeniality One in a million. The role she acts out is a lot like me. You can dress me up but I’m pretty clumsy and a career women that gets a job done. On the show I enter a whole new world and give it 100% but it doesn’t go without a few bumps which is a little like the movie. Do you watch any of the other Real Housewives series? If so, which other series do you like and who is your favourite Housewife from the whole franchise? I sure do, Beverly hills is Erica and Cheshire are Rachel or Tanya What do you think it means to be a Real Housewife and part of The Real Housewives brand? OMG to stay at home, have lunch and drink champagne- that said I wouldn’t know as I’m most certainly not a housewife in the more traditional sense. I’ve hopefully shown that a housewife can be someone who looks after their family and home, but also goes out and enjoys working and running a business. Women can have both, work and family, and I really believe in that.

Hedi Green Q&A

Hi Hedi, can you tell us a bit about yourself please? I am a happily single mother of three wonderful daughters and live in Jersey with my youngest

daughter, Laetitia, and my dog and cat. I am a natural health practitioner who has been in practice

for over 25 years. I am a keen skydiver and for the last two years have been in a competitive

skydiving team. I love spending time in nature and participate in a lot of outdoor activities. I have

recently started riding a motorbike and am enjoying the challenge and would like to do a motorbike

trip to the Himalayas sometime soon. I spent my early years in India and lived there for 6 years. I

love to travel and am very adventurous. A favourite saying of mine is: “you only start living when you

leave your comfort zone.’

How would your friends & family describe you? I think they would say that I am a hard worker, a survivor, someone who loves life and fun to be

with.

What brought you to the island? I met Abigail and Cordelia’s father in London as that’s where I was living and working at the time. He

had a place in London but his home was in Jersey. We married in 1985 and that’s when Jersey

became my home.

What do you love about your life on Jersey? Jersey is very safe, clean and beautiful. I love being outdoors and spending time in nature. It is all

around me without having to travel. We have some of the best beaches in the world. We also have a

great selection of fabulous restaurants and bars, a vibrant high street and lots of independent shops.

How did it feel to be asked to be in The Real Housewives of Jersey? My eldest daughter Abi put my name forward as a potential candidate. I didn’t believe I was a RHW

type and was surprised that the team were keen to spend time finding out about me and even more

surprised when I was asked!

How did your family/friends react when they found out about the show? Abi was really excited that I was asked to be in it. My mother had never heard of the show and there

was a mixed reaction from the very few friends I told. Generally, people have been really excited and

surprised that I am in it and are looking forward to watching the show.

What can we look forward to from YOU this season? I hope that I will show that wealth is not just about what you have but what you enjoy. There is so

much in our beautiful world that is free and for us to embrace and enjoy.

What has been your favourite thing about being a Housewife? I have really enjoyed all the lovely events that have been arranged. Getting dressed up has been fun

as I am generally very casual. Mostly I’ve enjoyed really getting to know and spending lots of quality

time with some great ladies.

What has been your funniest moment on the show this season? The two funniest moments of the show for me are when Kate nearly lost her bikini bottoms while

we were having a swim in the sea and Ashley not dealing very well with an oyster!

Have you learnt anything new or tried out anything new filming this season? I have learned to put on makeup properly! You will notice how I get better looking as the show

progresses because of this new skill!

Page 9: PRESS PACK - ITV Hub

P a g e | 9

What do you think you bring to the show that no one else does? I am the only housewife on the show that jumps out of planes and rides a motorbike!

How do you fit into the friendship group of the Housewives? I think I will be seen as the one who avoids drama and doesn’t have time for BS!

Who would you say you’re closest to in the cast and why? I have known Kate for the longest out of all of the girls. Nearly 30 years! We know and understand

each other. I always have a good laugh with Kate as she doesn’t take herself too seriously and she

has a very big heart.

Who have you enjoyed getting to know the most? I really enjoyed getting to know Tessa and Ashley. They are both very different characters, a lot of

fun and really great family girls.

Which two other Jersey Housewives would you take to a desert island and why? I would choose Kate and Tessa. Kate really has a lot of hidden talents behind those huge boobs!! She is a good swimmer, a great cook, she is a lot of fun and I think she would cope with having to rough it. I would enjoy intellectual conversations with Tessa and I also believe she would be a great strategist in planning our daily activities to stay alive as well as have fun.

How would you describe your fashion style? I have an eclectic style of dress consisting of some special items I have had for over 30 years, pieces I

have found on my travels and lucky charity shop finds. I am generally very casual and wear a lot

black.

How do you like to arrive to a party? I would like to arrive at a party flying my parachute!

Who do you think would play you in a movie any why? Someone like Charlize Theron maybe….She has played a lot action parts but also scrubs up well and

looks fab in a glamorous outfit!

What do you think it means to be a Real Housewife and part of The Real Housewives brand? I hope I will be a role model for other ladies of a ‘certain age’ who feel they may be past taking up

new exciting challenges and show that us ‘ol’ gals’ can still learn new tricks!!

Kate Taylor – Introduction

Kate has lived on Jersey for 30 years and is well known on the Jersey social scene for her gregarious character and jaw dropping outfit choices. Kate is going through a divorce and looking forward to a new chapter in her life. Kate and her ex husband used to run one of the island’s top hotels The Royal Yacht. Kate Taylor Q&A

Hi Kate, can you tell us a bit about yourself please? My name is Kate Taylor, I am 52 years old and I have lived on the Island of Jersey for 30 years. I am a

fundraiser for a number of charities and have recently been appointed Patron for After Breast

Cancer Jersey. I have one son called Finn who is 21 years old who I adore. I am recently single and

was with my ex-husband for 26 years. I was originally born in Cleethorpes and lived most of my early

life in Grimsby, a place that is still dear to my heart and where my family still lives. I am a ‘happy go

lucky’ girl, who loves to party (that’s my super-power) and enjoy meeting new people. My motto is

“it’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice”. I have a unique personality and I am

very proud of that.

How would your friends & family describe you? Kind and creative. My father says I live in Kate World on Fantasy Island. They laugh because I go to

the opening of an envelope, they think I am exhausting as I am always busy!

What brought you to the island? I moved over to Jersey in 1988 with a very special ex-boyfriend when I was 22 and I fell in love with

the beautiful island of Jersey and its people. It was love at first sight!

What do you love about your life on Jersey? Every day it amazes me that I never see the same view twice. Jersey is a special place and it’s a gem

in the sea. Its beaches are fabulous and are a stone’s throw away from anywhere. Coupled with the

easy-going lifestyle, the restaurants and club/bar scene why wouldn’t anyone not want to live in

Jersey? I am very humbled to live on such a beautiful Island.

How did it feel to be asked to be in The Real Housewives of Jersey? I was honoured to be asked to be a part of the show. I had several grueling interviews and honestly

didn’t think that I would be chosen but delighted that I was.

How did your family/friends react when they found out about the show? My friends and family were fine as my life has always been in the public eye, locally. My family have

always supported my mantra of “it’s never too late to try anything new” and have always

encouraged me in my epic adventures.

What has been your favourite thing about being a Housewife? Getting to know the other girls and all the adventures the TV show has entailed. I chuck myself into

everything and have enjoyed every minute, at a very difficult time in my life.

What has been your funniest moment on the show this season? Every single minute...no seriously, watching Margaret’s face during the still life drawing, it was

priceless; you’d think she’d never seen a willy before!

Have you learnt anything new or tried out anything new filming this season? Organising a sea-based fundraising event during a global pandemic – this has been a first and one I

won’t forget. Note to self, I am not a size 10 in a wetsuit!

How do you think Jersey residents will react when they see the show? I am mindful that not everyone will like the show and that’s ok. However, it shows off our beautiful

Island and follows the lives of an eclectic group of women.

What do you think you bring to the show that no one else does? Unusual style and lots of humour.

Page 12: PRESS PACK - ITV Hub

P a g e | 12

Who would you say you’re closest to in the cast and why? Margaret Thompson – I have known Margaret for 30 years and in the last few years we have become

extremely close. Hedi Green - known of her for 30 years and always thought she was an

extraordinary woman with fabulous values and goals.

Who have you enjoyed getting to know the most? Mia – she is a handful of fun and we have a lot in common. I think she has a great sense of humour

and she brings out the competitiveness in me. Ashley – I love her positive attitude to life and that

she’s always laughing and smiling.

Which two other Jersey Housewives would you take to a desert island and why? Margaret – because she is practical and would help us get out of difficult situations. Hedi – she is the

only woman I know that is happy to jump out of a plane more than once. No more needs to be said.

How would you describe your fashion style? I don’t follow fashion; I create my own and it’s weird and wonderful. I am not sure everyone agrees

(ha ha).I don’t dress to be noticed; I dress to be remembered.

How do you like to arrive to a party? Fashionably late, anyone who knows me invites me an hour early!

Who do you think would play you in a movie any why? Angelia Jolie...because I was the original Lara Croft. I am well trained in getting myself out of tricky

situation/permanently living on your nerves!

Margaret Thompson (58)

“I am always realistic, I only ever expect miracles.”

Margaret Thompson – Introduction

Margaret moved to the island when she was 18 and has worked her way up from pot washer to the

self styled ‘Queen of Jersey property’. Her property company sells all the top properties on the

island and as you arrive at the Jersey airport there’s a big billboard of her face welcoming you in.

Margaret is single, previously divorced, but is open to finding Mr. Right, however he’d need to fit

into her hectic life. She owns one of the island’s best properties, a converted restaurant with a huge

terrace where she throws extravagant and glamorous parties.

Margaret Thompson Q&A

Hi Margaret can you tell us a bit about yourself please? My name is Margaret Thompson, I arrived in Jersey two weeks before my 18th birthday with no job, and no return ticket with only £37 in my pocket. To survive I had to get a job, my first job was dishwashing, amongst other things I have potato picked, worked in hotels and bars and perfumery. I am now the proud owner of two successful Estate Agencies in Jersey and I have two dogs, Coco and Bella who love to play on the beach, where you will find us every day. How would your friends & family describe you? My friends and family would describe me as a hardworking person who believes in everything and will not take no for an answer. They would say I was a determined and successful business woman who they are all proud of. They would also say I am one of the most generous people who loves to share her success with my friends and family, I am a firm believer in giving back to others and local community charities and my cup is always overflowing. What brought you to the island? Three friends of mine from a small town in Scotland decided to go to Jersey to work and live in the hotel industry. At the time, I was doing an apprenticeship in hairdressing, both of my parents were normal hardworking people who wanted me to have a trade, something to fall back on, therefore initially I declined the adventure of Jersey. However, I finished my apprenticeship and then I joined my friends. I was only going to work for one season and return home, my friends decided Jersey was going to be their forever home but as it turned out they left and I was the one who fell in love with Jersey and made it my forever home. What do you love about your life on Jersey? I love the community, the lifestyle, its beautiful beaches, outdoor activities, cycle tracks, walks, history, the fresh air and the opportunities to create whatever life you want. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you have, everyone can enjoy the beauty and the energy Jersey has to offer. How did it feel to be asked to be in The Real Housewives of Jersey? I felt excited for the opportunities it could bring to my business and our beautiful Island including tourism which when I arrived in Jersey was booming and was a huge part of our economy. Personally, it was a bit scary to me as I had strived so hard to achieve a hardworking reputation, I am proud of and I was apprehensive that the housewives could be detrimental to my business reputation. However, I know in my heart that I am a good person and I felt it was the right decision for me to give something back to Jersey. How did your family/friends react when they found out about the show? Some of my friends had trepidation for me and my success and others felt it was exciting with unknown possibilities. My family were all in lol. What can we look forward to from YOU this season? I think that people who only know the business Margaret will now see the private side of me and realize that I’m not all work and I can be humble, funny and entertaining and I don’t take life as seriously as some people may think, you come in with nothing and you go out with nothing. One thing you may notice I don’t follow the crowd if I don’t agree with something I will say so. I don’t judge, I believe everyone should be who they want to be as long as they are not harming anyone else. We are all different, we all make mistakes and why shouldn’t we be who we are?

Page 15: PRESS PACK - ITV Hub

P a g e | 15

What has been your favourite thing about being a Housewife? My favorite thing about being a Housewife has been taking time off my busy working life to enjoy time for me to do all the wonderful experiences Jersey has to offer. It’s been great just to have the time to be a girl enjoying girly things including clothes shopping. Have you learnt anything new or tried out anything new filming this season? I really enjoyed the venture into the depths of Seymour Oyster beds in the beautiful crystal clear

waters. The girls and I had a wonderful time full of fun and laughs on this great afternoon.

What do you think you bring to the show that no one else does? I hope I will be bringing an inspiration to everyone to believe in yourself and you can achieve anything you want if you put your mind to it. To the other girls on the show, hopefully a sense of equilibrium. How do you fit into the friendship group of the Housewives? I am a straight-talker however. I do try initially to be the diplomatic person, if it doesn’t work the straight-taking comes out. I don’t like to see anyone being taken advantage of. I can also be, I think, quite funny. Who would you say you’re closest to in the cast and why? I am very close to Kate, we have known each other since she arrived in Jersey. Kate is very kind and does so much for local charities and is not afraid to let her hair down for everyone’s amusement. Who have you enjoyed getting to know the most? I have really enjoyed getting to know Ashley, she reminds me somewhat of a mini me. She has started her own business and is very excited about being the best in her field. She has an engaging laugh and loves to have fun on the dance floor. She has a strong family bond which I love. Which two other Jersey Housewives would you take to a desert island and why? I would certainly like to take Hedi as she would be the action woman who would source our food. Kate would definitely have to be there to bring all the silliness and entertainment.

How would you describe your fashion style? I don’t really think I have a fashion style, I just do me. I mix all my favorite items together regardless of what they cost, I don’t really care if someone disapproves.

Who do you think would play you in a movie any why? I think Meryl Streep would play me in a movie, she is my all-time favorite actress. I also think Gillian Anderson is a fantastic actress who captures her characters. Do you watch any of the other Real Housewives series? If so, which other series do you like and who is your favourite Housewife from the whole franchise? I like The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and my favorite housewife would be Lisa Vanderpump. What do you think it means to be a Real Housewife and part of The Real Housewives brand? Being a Real Housewife gives you an opportunity to be whoever you want to be.

Mia Ledbury (44)

“In Australia I’d look out for spiders. Here I look out for snakes.”

Mia Ledbury – Introduction

Mia is originally from Australia, an ex-model who moved to the island 5 years ago with her husband

Dan and their two daughters. She’s a stay at home mum but is keen to get back into modeling and

update her portfolio. She feels like a newcomer to the island and is finding her feet slowly on the

social scene, she admits it’s a struggle to build friendships on the island, she finds Jersey can be very

judgmental and backstabbing.

Page 17: PRESS PACK - ITV Hub

P a g e | 17

Mia Ledbury Q&A

Hi Mia, can you tell us a bit about yourself please? I grew up in Australia, lived in Sydney and then moved to London for modelling work nineteen years ago. I met my husband Dan while we were both working there and the rest is history. We moved to Jersey just over five years ago just after we had our second child. I’m into healthy living, exercise and I’m pretty down to earth but also have a rebellious streak! How would your friends & family describe you? I’m 50% chilled and 50% firecracker, it depends which side of the bed I get out on. I love having a good time and I’m almost normally last person standing at a party. If you obey all the rules, you’ll miss all the fun! What brought you to the island? We moved from London about six years ago, initially we planned to be here for 12-18months. Here we are 5 years later! I grew up on the beaches of Australia and so leaving behind the hustle and bustle for the beach BBQ and surf felt very natural for me. We came for my husband’s work but we stayed for the lifestyle. What do you love about your life on Jersey? For a relatively small Island, there is a surprising amount to do and Jersey is a very social Island! Summers are the best, picking the kids up from school and heading down to the beach where they can swim and play whilst us ladies have a crisp glass of Rose! Chilled beach vibes and watching the sun set over the sweeping west coast is one of my favourite things to do. How did it feel to be asked to be in The Real Housewives of Jersey? It’s a huge privilege to be asked to be part of the original cast members for Housewives of Jersey. It certainly spiced up 2020 for me! How did your family/friends react when they found out about the show? Jersey is such a small place that I think some people were a little apprehensive about the show and especially the drama. I have some amazing friends who are fully behind me in whatever I do and I have no regrets. You never do you a whole lot unless you are brave enough to try. What can we look forward to from YOU this season? I stopped modelling to have my two girls, you can follow me through my journey from housewife back to cracking back into the modelling scene. Never say never, anything is possible! What has been your favourite thing about being a Housewife? It's been great to properly get to know the other Housewives and watch us come together as a group whilst also getting up to some mischief. It is very empowering to be able to have a platform to showcase our home to the rest of the world. What has been your funniest moment on the show this season? I don’t think that I’ve laughed as much during the show as I did during the life drawing class, it was quite an eye opener! There were no better people to do that with than Kate and Margaret, and my cheeks were aching from laughing so hard for hours afterwards. How do you think Jersey residents will react when they see the show? I hope people who live here are going to be really happy when they see how Jersey is portrayed. It is a truly a stunning Island and I think its going to put Jersey back on the map in a great way, there are so many hidden gems to explore and enjoy. I think everyone here will watch the show, even if they

Page 18: PRESS PACK - ITV Hub

P a g e | 18

pretend that they haven’t. There has been a huge amount of interest and buzz generated and I don’t think people will be disappointed! What do you think you bring to the show that no one else does? I grew up in Australia, modelled and lived in Sydney, danced professionally in Japan, moved to London and now live in Jersey. I’ve had some amazing experiences in my life, and I think I’ll bring an international vibe to the show and also a bit of worldliness! How do you fit into the friendship group of the Housewives? I would normally say I’m quite level headed and a bit of a mediator when it comes to drama, but I won’t back down if I’m being attacked. I try to be fair and see the best in people, but I am certainly no angel. Who would you say you’re closest to in the cast and why? I think it would be Kate and Jane because I tend to be drawn to people who can make me laugh and are a little crazy (in a good way!). I always feel more relaxed around someone who doesn’t mind having a laugh about themselves. Who have you enjoyed getting to know the most? Margaret Thompson is quite a well-known local business figure and for years there was a giant billboard with her face on it as you landed at the airport. I had heard she could be quite a shark in business, so I was a bit nervous about getting to know her in real life. In reality, she was much warmer than I had expected, and I think we got on really well. Also, she is such a softie around her dogs (her “children”) as well! Which two other Jersey Housewives would you take to a desert island and why? Kate would definitely be my first pick, who needs a television when you have pure entertainment to hand! I’d also have to bring Margaret along for the ride as those two are hilarious together - a true comedy duo! Kate’s fabulous bosom could also be a handy floatation device if we needed to swim to a passing rescue boat!

How would you describe your fashion style? Luxe Rock N’ Rock. Despite all the glam I’m also a rock chick at heart. You are just as likely to find me at Glastonbury in festival gear as getting my nails done for a party. I have a great collection of rock t-shirts, some are over 25yrs old.

How do you like to arrive to a party? Late! I don’t think I’ve ever managed to make it anywhere on time! I run on my own schedule and nobody can hurry me along.

Who do you think would play you in a movie any why? People sometimes say I remind them a bit of Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby or sometimes Jennifer Garner. I’ll take either of those two in a heartbeat! Do you watch any of the other Real Housewives series? If so, which other series do you like and who is your favourite Housewife from the whole franchise? My favourite character from Real Housewives of Cheshire would probably be Tanya. She seems quite down to earth but also has a sharp sense of humour.

What do you think it means to be a Real Housewife and part of The Real Housewives brand? I think given everything that has happened in 2020 people need light hearted entertainment in their lives more than ever. The Real Housewives brand is a great mix of glitz, glam, laughs and a dash of drama. It is just the medicine that we all need as we head into the dark winter nights around Christmas. I’m so proud to be involved in the brand, being one of the original Housewives of Jersey and bringing it to the shores of this beautiful island.

Tessa Hartmann Q&A

Hi Tessa, can you tell us a bit about yourself please? Born in Glasgow, married to an Italian/German Sascha and mother to 4 wonderful kids. Tessie aged 23, Tallia aged 22, Johnnie aged 16 and Zac aged 13 years. My family are my world. I am a breast cancer survivor. I guess you could say I’m an entrepreneur, hustler and go-getter. I set up a branding and communications company in Glasgow some 25 years ago with my husband and I like to think I have crafted my trade working in the dynamic world of fashion, beauty and lifestyle. We don’t sleep much! My mantra has always been to support new talent and the next generation and that was the rationale for setting up the Scottish Fashion Awards in 2006. I was humbled to be honoured in HRH The Queen’s 90th Birthday Honours list with a CBE for my contribution to fashion and textiles in 2016. I love politics, art and the creative industries. I have written columns for national newspapers, served as a Fashion Editor and regularly commentate on radio as an authority on branding and maternal subjects! I am a patriotic Scot and a proud Brit, and I love the Royal Family. When we moved to Jersey, we fell in love with this island, a jewel in the British crown dependencies. I then set up the Jersey Style Awards to showcase the best of what this wonderful island has to offer across the arts, business, retail, culture and tourism sectors. How would your friends & family describe you? Colleagues may say - A trailblazer who is redefining power and re-shaping an antiquated role model, fighting for more woman to be in charge in empowering working environments. Friends may say - Loud, full of sarcastic banter, party queen who loves to dance with a glass of champers in hand and fiercely loyal. Family may say - Strong, very cuddly & tactile, loving, selfless when it comes to the kids/family and nurturing. I encourage my kids to never give up, to believe in themselves, because they can do anything if they put in the effort. Our family motto is about putting in the time, forgetting about missing out and making things happen. Talent will always shine through – but nothing in life is easy – if it was everyone would be doing it! What brought you to the island? My mother, who was my best friend passed away in 2013, then my father got oral cancer. It was an emotional few years and I found living in Scotland too challenging as everything reminded me of my mum. We came to Jersey for a random business meeting and we fell in love with it. Jersey is also so close to London which means my daughters Tessie and Tallia who work in London can commute easily. What do you love about your life on Jersey? I love that Jersey is just 19 miles off the coast of France but attached to the British crown. It has stunning coastlines, beaches, palm trees, turquoise waters, plus clean and pure sea air. From Instagram worthy sand dunes, pretty seaside villages, an abundance of fresh seafood, there is something for everyone here. How did it feel to be asked to be in The Real Housewives of Jersey? I understand the power of the franchise, so for me it was an honour to be asked on to such a global brand. I also likened this to a great social experiment – the idea of spending so much time with a bunch of ladies that I didn’t really know that well, was intriguing. How did your family/friends react when they found out about the show? My kids and husband laughed in the first instance – not thinking for a second I would do it or that it was right for me. But the reality is we are a strong family unit so as long as we are all on the same side, it doesn’t matter how it turns out. Ironically, I think this show will be quite different from the tested model, which is great.

What can we look forward to from YOU this season? I have tried to be my authentic self, which requires vulnerability, transparency and integrity. I am a wife, mother and businesswoman – in that order! I put my family first and work very, very hard. I didn’t come into this show to make new friends – I have my family and an old circle of girlfriends. I like to keep things classy. I am a businesswoman after all, so I like to keep the tone high! I also say it like it is. If my strength intimidates you, then that is a weakness of yours. What has been your favourite thing about being a Housewife? The whole experience has been fantastic, but it has taken up a lot more of my time than I had anticipated. As I work full time there was a lot of juggling to do and working endless hours to make it all fit. For me I love the glamour and getting dressed up, an excuse to wear all my clothes and rummage my wardrobe. I collect vintage clothes and have always had a love affair with fashion. With so many scenes and filming I have certainly been through a lot of my wardrobe which has been fabulous! I almost felt like my 30-year-old self – fashion styling, except I was practicing on myself. Fashion should be fun and frivolous, and this show is certainly that. What has been your funniest moment on the show this season? There were actually so many – I loved the Jet Ski race in St Aubin’s Bay, my 21-year-old competitive self came out, which was hilarious. I loved the festival party at the staycation. Frankly I hadn’t behaved like that in years! Have you learnt anything new or tried out anything new filming this season? I organized falconry for the girls on the staycation. Despite having seen it many times in Scotland I had never done it before. However, I was petrified with the eagles and falcon’s whose wingspan were massive, I was convinced one would land on my head instead of my arm! How do you think Jersey residents will react when they see the show? There has been so much chatter about this locally, which is understandable. But frankly I think this will be the best thing that’s ever happened to Jersey in the public domain. It’s essentially a showcase of this beautiful island that so many of us are lucky enough to call home. So, when the residents see how beautiful the island is on TV and what that can mean to our economy, they too will grow to love it! How do you think / hope the show will put Jersey on the map? The lure of Jersey’s clean air, unspoilt beaches, great schools, impressive healthcare, great heritage and community spirit will put the island on the map as a top tourist destination. What do you think you bring to the show that no one else does? I think it’s fair to say that I am the only wife on the show with a big family. As a family we are dysfunctional sometimes, loyal, loving, funny, crazy and ambitious – we make no apology for that. But when you strip it all away, we are there for each other no matter what, so for that reason I will always put family above friendship. I am therefore real, raw and always honest. The moral compass! Who would you say you’re closest to in the cast and why? Each housewife brings their unique DNA to the show. It was interesting to get to know each of these personalities, some you naturally navigate towards and some against. There is nothing wrong with that – it’s human nature. I felt a draw to Hedi Green. I admired her fearlessness, her sense of adventure, her honesty and integrity. We shared a love of art, culture and sense of adventure. I admired Ashley too. She reminded me of my younger self, building her business and juggling young children – it’s not easy yet she seems to be doing it well.

Page 23: PRESS PACK - ITV Hub

P a g e | 23

Who have you enjoyed getting to know the most? I enjoyed being in Hedi and Ashley’s company. I didn’t know them at all before the show although I did discover that I presented Ashley with her Masters degree at her graduation as I was the keynote speaker a year ago at the ceremony, and here we are doing a TV show together. What a small world we live in. Hedi is also an educated lady who has wealth of knowledge in her field. I am always drawn to confident, articulate and educated individuals – those who fight and earn their position through hard work and perseverance. Which two other Jersey Housewives would you take to a desert island and why? Hedi – because she would definitely climb the rockface or swim with the sharks for food and Ashley as she’s a good cook and would keep us entertained and fed!

How would you describe your fashion style? As a working mother, my style is quite defined. Sleek trouser suits, mostly in black, white cotton shirts and high kicks. Outside work I thrive on glamour and elegance, statement and quirky pieces from luxury designers that I have collected over the years to edgy looks from up and coming young designers. Accessories and footwear are key to my style and can perhaps be attributed to my tenacity and bold approach to life and style.

How do you like to arrive to a party? On time, in all out glamour and with a banging pair of shades on!

Who do you think would play you in a movie any why? Charlize Theron – she’s authentic, versatile, sexy, tall, endearing and at least three sizes smaller than me… What do you think it means to be a Real Housewife and part of The Real Housewives brand? As I have said previously, this is for me an opportunity to redefine the role. To use this platform to make change, to help support women, nurture them as working mothers. It’s perhaps time to use this space to talk more about our environment, sustainability, our precious planet and community spirit than it is to discuss mundane subjects like lip fillers, bake sales and bitching. We can but try and I’m determined to be ‘that’ kind of woman.

Jane Rayner (56)

“Don’t hate me because I’m naughty, hate me because I’m cute.”

Jane Rayner – Introduction

Jane is originally from the Midlands, she’s twice divorced and currently engaged and is hoping it’ll be

3rd time lucky! Jane has 3 daughters from the previous two marriages and she’s been living in Jersey

for 6 and a half years. She’s very spontaneous and has the nickname ‘crazy Jane’ amongst her

friends, she doesn’t plan anything and always has a passport, mascara and a pair of knickers on her

at all times in case of last-minute trip decisions. She’s a self confessed shopaholic and believes every

outfit should be sexy and she notorious for giving her friends fashion advice. Jane says some women

on Jersey can be jealous of her looks, she often gets mistaken for being a fair bit younger than she is

and the fact she doesn’t exercise, winds other women up.

Jane Rayner Q&A

Hi Jane, can you tell us a bit about yourself please? Hi, I’m Jane. I’ve been married twice and have three daughters. I have had a tough life in the past,

but I met my partner Andy in 2011 and we moved and settled in Jersey in 2014. Jersey is an

incredibly beautiful and friendly place and we now have such a fantastic life, with great restaurants

and bars and beaches literally within walking distance. I’m always rushing around making sure the

house looks nice, checking my girls are ok and keeping in touch with my friends. Most people don’t

realise but I spend a lot of time thinking and I am entrepreneurial having set up my UK business in

2012. I like to stay positive and I don’t like to take myself too seriously and I like to laugh as much as

possible.

How would your friends & family describe you? I think they would describe me as bubbly, fun and life and soul of the party. Whatever life has

thrown at me, I try and take it in my stride and just cope with it the best way l can. I try to get

through most of life’s stresses with a smile. I am a very loyal friend. They may say I am fairly blunt

and to the point in my opinions though. I try to help others to stay positive through tough times, as I

know what it’s like when times are tough. I like to have fun at parties and make people smile. All my

friends know I like to party and get my party pants on and dance the night away.

What brought you to the island? I tried to move to Jersey with my previous husband, twice! So, it was third time lucky when Andy had

the opportunity to bring his business over to Jersey. I’m glad we did as it’s such an incredible place

to live. I really miss my girls though, although they seem happy which is the main thing.

What do you love about your life on Jersey? Life here is great. Nowhere is far from the sea and the weather is always several degrees warmer

than the UK with a lot of blue skies too. There is hardly any crime and the people here are very

friendly and keen to help.

How did it feel to be asked to be in The Real Housewives of Jersey? I know it might sound stupid, but I literally jumped up and down I was so excited when I found out I

was going to be on the show. I am so honoured to be on the show and its opened up a new chapter

in my life. I feel very lucky too as I would never have had the chance to do this unless I was living in

Jersey. I had tried to move to Jersey twice before, so I guess it was meant to be!

How did your family/friends react when they found out about the show? Andy was really supportive as were all of my friends, they are so excited for me. Some might choose

not to appear on TV, but they all think it’s great. My eldest daughter Polly even came over to join us

for a few days! The girls are always chatting to me about the show, they cannot wait to see it. I

haven’t seen them for ages and the next time they see me I’ll be on the telly!!

What can we look forward to from YOU this season? I hope I shall bring you some of me, the real me, emotional, passionate, fun, and cheeky. I wear my heart on my sleeve. Like many people, I’ve had my past troubles and now I would like to not take myself too seriously. I love fashion, dressing up and having a good party, I’m happy to get stuck in and pushing people’s boundaries! What has been your favourite thing about being a Housewife? What is being a housewife like? Trying on clothes all the time, choosing outfits with my friends for special occasions, shopping, a glass of bubbles or two with the girls. And the parties! What’s not to like about that?! Being able to do my favourite things every day is fabulous!!

Page 26: PRESS PACK - ITV Hub

P a g e | 26

What has been your funniest moment on the show this season? I don’t want to give too much away but my funniest moment was on my party night…Tessa nearly

wet herself! It was so funny, but you’ll have to watch it to find out!

Have you learnt anything new or tried out anything new filming this season? I have learnt lots of new things every single day. We went on jet-skis which was amazing. I’ve never done it on the sea so I was a little nervous but when I got used to it I really enjoyed it. I will definitely be doing it again but on a much calmer day though. What do you think you bring to the show that no one else does? Sometimes, I am quiet and thoughtful, when others are being loud and noisy. But I wear my heart on

my sleeve and when I do say things, I say them as I see them with a passion that sometimes gets me

into trouble. But I’d rather be honest and open and I’d hope others would be open and honest with

me too. What you see is what you get, whereas some people prefer to hide behind a façade. That’s

not me.

How do you fit into the friendship group of the Housewives? I’m always there for my friends if they need a shoulder to cry on. They can depend on me. I’ll listen attentively, but don’t ask me a question if you don’t like the answer. So I guess I’m a straight talker. When the conversation gets dull, I am the one who lightens the mood so I’m the one who brings in the fun. Who would you say you’re closest to in the cast and why? I have known Margaret since we first moved over to Jersey, and she was a key person helping us to settle in and look for houses. She was also our neighbour for a while and was often good company for me when Andy was away on business, which was sometimes for several weeks at a time. I love Margaret’s little dogs Coco and Bella very much too. I’m also good friends with Kate as she invited us to the first ball when we had literally only just arrived, I’ll never forget how amazing and glamorous Kate looked that night and how happy we were to be there. Who have you enjoyed getting to know the most? I hadn’t met Mia before the show but we shared the annex while we were on the staycation. So we got to spend quite a bit of time together. We both love fashion and we just seemed to gel on lots of different levels. Which two other Jersey Housewives would you take to a desert island and why? I would take Hedi and Kate. Hedi is a skydiver so we could parachute out of a plane together and

land on a beautiful beach. I would take Kate so we can all keep fit and do yoga. We might not get

much yoga done as we’d never stop laughing with Kate’s jokes and amazing puns. Kate is such a

laugh!

How would you describe your fashion style? I adore clothes and I have worked in the fashion industry most of my life having run my own

boutique in the past. I don’t like to stick with one style and I like to have a different look every day.

Fashionista is my middle name!

How do you like to arrive to a party? Late! It’s always nice to arrive in style on special occasions so we may hire a nice car so the evening begins from the moment you walk out of the door. I love to dress up and spend most of the day in preparation for a big party having my hair and make up done.

Page 27: PRESS PACK - ITV Hub

P a g e | 27

Who do you think would play you in a movie any why? I was once chased down a beach in the US by a fan wanting an autograph who thought I was

Cameron Diaz! He literally chased me down the beach it was hilarious. So it would be funny if she

played me. Some people say I look a little like Amanda Holden so that would also be quite funny,

famous people playing little me! How funny!

Do you watch any of the other Real Housewives series? If so, which other series do you like and who is your favourite Housewife from the whole franchise? I’ve watched a lot of the real housewives series in the franchise and of the US shows my favourite

was Lisa Vanderpump before she left. My current favourite is Tanya from Real Housewives of

Cheshire, because she is funny and she keeps it very real. She isn’t too big for her boots and is fun

and a great character to watch and entertaining too.

What do you think it means to be a Real Housewife and part of The Real Housewives brand? I am very proud to be part of the real housewife brand and I’m literally amazed that I am! I realize it is a full on commitment and I am completely invested in that. I can’t quite believe I have been on such an incredible journey. My motto has always been to say ‘yes’ when a good opportunity arises, and when it does, push the door a little and see if it opens wider. This time it did and I stepped in and joined. I am really pleased that I did.
