Prevent Blindness Georgia Hosts ‘Night for Sight’ Beer Tasting
To Raise Money For Free Eye Screenings in the Atlanta Community
- Non-profit Group Fundraiser Proceeds Will Go Towards Children Vision Screenings,
Affordable Adult Eye Care, and Community Eye Disease Prevention–
ATLANTA (July 24, 2014) – Friday, September 5, 2014: This marks the day Prevent Blindness
Georgia (PBGA) will hold their annual Night for Sight fundraiser. This enjoyable evening event
will feature wine and beer tastings, delicious food, fun and most importantly, warm company! It
will take place from 6:00pm until 9:00pm in a local brewery Monday Night Brewing located at
670 Trabert Ave NW Atlanta, GA, 30318. Best of all, one hundred percent of all ‘Night for
Sight’ proceeds will go towards Prevent Blindness Georgia. Specifically, the money raised will
help fund PBGA’s efforts to raise money for children and adults that cannot afford appropriate
eye care, are at risk for eye disease or are in immediate need of an eye screening.
All ‘Night for Sight’ fundraiser event ticketholders will also receive six beer-tasting tickets, three
wine tasting tickets, along with catered cuisine. Attendees will also have the opportunity to
purchase raffle tickets for the chance to win marvelous prizes like round trip airline tickets, Stone
Mountain Park passes, a D. Geller and Son diamond necklace and earring set, along with various
gift baskets. In addition, admission tickets, raffle tickets along with sponsorships can be
purchased online. A single ticket costs $40, while a VIP ticket is $75. Finally, raffle tickets are
available for $5 each, $12 for three tickets or $20 for five.
Last year, this annual fundraiser (then named ‘Brews and Chews’) saw a huge community turn
out. This year, Prevent Blindness Georgia hopes to double the annual event’s attendance and
increase the amount of funds raised. “We look forward to watching this fundraiser unfold every
year,” says Tolu Deitz, Prevent Blindness Georgia Director of Foundation and Corporate
Relations. She goes on to declare, “It is because of events like ‘Night for Sight’ that PBGA’s
goal to screen 37,500 children annually is attainable”.
While, it costs less than seven dollars to provide a child with a vision screen, 35,000
preschoolers are affected by vision impairments. PBGA’s eye screenings could lead to a
permanent cure, an affective treatment and/or appropriate care for various vision issues. PBGA is
hopeful that the community will enable them to help fund the many institutions and services they
currently offer both adults and children in need. Some examples of PBGA’s sight seeing
programs are the Vision Outreach Adult Vision Program, the Star Pupil Program as well as the
Georgia Retinal Imaging Project. Some examples of the services Prevent Blindness Georgia
offers are as follows:
Low cost eyeglasses, eye exams, education, and referrals for low income/uninsured adults
Free eye care and medication for glaucoma clients that financially qualify
Diabetic retinopathy clinics for adults at high risk of developing diabetes of glaucoma
Vision screenings throughout Georgia for children in prekindergarten
Prevent Blindness Georgia works hard to let the community know just how important vision
screenings and eye care are. And their hard work is paying off!
