Pride of Dakota Day: The 23rd annual Pride of Dakota Day at the North Dakota State Fair is Monday, July 25, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last year, our Pride of Dakota lunch attracted more than 1,200 hungry fairgoers. A bargain at just one dollar, the lunch included a Cloverdale hotdog, a bag of potato chips from Northern Plains Potato Growers and milk from Land O’Lakes. The lunch this year will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For the third year, we will host a Kuchen Contest at 3 p.m. We’re anticipating a large turn-out due to the overwhelming support we received the last few years, and because you can’t call yourself a North Dakotan if you’ve never tasted “German Pie.”

The cost to participate in this year’s Pride of Dakota Day at the State Fair is $25.

Pride of Dakota Food & Wine Experience: Pride of Dakota food and wine vendors will be invited to sample and sell their products at the second annual Pride of Dakota Food and Wine Experience on Wednesday, July 27, at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot.

The event will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. at Pioneer Village, located on the west side of the fairgrounds.

Fairgoers attending the event will receive drink tickets and a souvenir wine glass. The drink tickets can be used to receive one-ounce samples of wine from vendors of their choice. Food companies will provide samples of products to complement the wine.

The Williston area had been waiting for years for a Pride of Dakota Showcase in their city, and on May 7, those hopes were realized.

More than 50 vendors and 1,400 customers filled the Raymond Family Community Center for the first-ever Spring Showcase. With the Band Day Parade, a car show and other local festivities underway, it was a great weekend to debut the new event.

Shoppers showed their appreciation by shopping like crazy! Pride of Dakota members said they were very pleased with the turnout and are excited to see how it grows.

Williston Show a Success

The importance of Internet Marketing and Social Networking continues to grow no matter how big or small your company. Pride of Dakota is happy to provide you with a training opportunity to establish a global pres-ence. This two day training will get you started or expand the social network you already have in place. The first day is geared toward those just beginning and the second day is more advanced. In order to take the advanced session, you must have taken the Tuesday’s beginning session or participated in the training that was offered last summer.

Scott Wild has been working with Pride of Dakota for two years and will be leading the hands-on classes. To enable Scott to work hands-on with participants there is only space for 10 people per session and participants must provide their own laptop computer.

Don’t miss this opportunity to share your business around the globe. The training is set for Tuesday, June 21 and Wednesday, June 22 at the Kelly Inn in Bismarck. For more information or to register contact Sara at 701-328-4766.

As a teacher in a small town, Judy Gabriel always felt that Strasburg needed “a little something.” She en-joyed the Holiday Showcases but didn’t have a place to buy Pride of Dakota products within a 75-mile radius.

In 2003, Gabriel decided to provide Strasburg with “little something” by opening The Little German House. This century-old cottage with more than 200 red gera-niums filling the flower-boxes has been converted into a haven for coffee lovers, Pride of Dakota shoppers and people looking for vintage and antique items.

Some says it is the best-kept small town secret of the state. The friendly and helpful staff at The Little Ger-man House proudly provides affordable North Dakota products to locals and visitors from across the nation.

They especially appreciate the out-of-state customers who make a tradition of stopping every summer. This small business has been going strong for over eight

years in a town of just 400 people.

Gabriel is continually adding to her inventory of over 200 Pride of Da-kota products and enjoys promoting the things made right here in our state.

Next time you find your-self south of Interstate 94 or in need of a little road trip make sure to stop in. A visit to The Little German

House is always like coming home.
