Use the e-dictionary only after finish writing the
composition
Read more Chinese books
Read model compositions (Compilation of good
compositions)o Learn how to write content-rich compositions
o Expose to good phrases/sentences
o Strengthen sentence structure
Memorise and use good phrases/sentences
Use dialogues in composition writing
Make full use of the e-dictionary
• Oral
Encourage your child to read the passages
in the textbook more often so that they can improve
on words recognition (XueLe Website, McOnline, eZhishi Website )
Use the environment/daily encounters to have
conversations with your child
oGet them to describe people/things
oGet your child to share their opinions
Listen carefully to the questions and answer to the
point.
Share opinions, ideas, feelings.
Try not to give one-sentence
answer.
• Comprehension
Encourage your child to read the
comprehension questions before reading the
passage.
Check your child’s work and give appropriate
advice, example:
• The marks of each question will provide a rough
guide on how long the answer would be.
• Answer using the correct sentence structure.
