Subject grade reflects pupil’s performance in

each subject (A*- E, Ungraded)

Aggregate score shows pupil’s overall

performance in the exam (e.g. 189, 242…)

•Aggregate score = sum of T-Scores of 4 subjects

•Each of the 4 subjects carries the same

weighting in the computation of the Aggregate

score

PSLE Aggregate Score

19

Character &

Citizenship

Education

Partnership

What is T-Score?

Aggregate Score = sum of T-Scores of 4 subjects

Mark for each subject is converted to a transformed score - T - Score

•Reflects the pupil’s standing relative to the other pupils in the subject

•The raw mark obtained in the exam only shows how good the pupil is in that subject, not how good she is as compared to others.

20

Character &

Citizenship

Education

Partnership

Calculation of T-Score

Where:

• x: pupil’s mark for the subject

• m: average mark (mean) scored by all pupils

• SD: spread of marks around the average mark

(standard deviation)

T-score = 50 + 10(x – m)

SD

21

Character &

Citizenship

Education

Partnership

Example:

• Pupil’s mark (x) in exam = 50.0

• Average mark (m)scored by all pupils = 68.0

• Spread of marks (SD) around the ave marks = 14.0

T = 50 + 10(50 – 68.0)

14.0

22

Calculation of Aggregate Score

The aggregate score is calculated by adding the T-Scores of the 4 subjects.

Aggregate Score = 269

Subject Raw Score Mean Std Dev T-Score

EL 80 50 20 65

Maths 90 50 19 71

Science 90 60 15 70

MT (CL) 80 60 15 63

Computation of Aggregate Score

• The aggregate score does not include Higher Mother Tongue.

• Computation of the aggregate score takes into account:

- the difference in demand between Standard and Foundation subjects

- the number of examinable subjects taken
