Created for our Primary French Programme 'Tout le monde', these Schemes of Work (SOW) give Primary French teachers an overview of Module 1, Level 1 from Tout le monde. Overview of the module• Learn numbers 1–10.• Use simple greetings and perform short role plays.• Learn some simple commands needed for regular use of target language in the classroom.• Recognise words in the story, song and poem.• Join in with performing the story, song and poem.• Recognise the sounds and words introduced in the module: i (six), eu (deux).
Learning outcomesBy the end of the module, the majority of children will be able to: understand and pronounce numbers 1–10 and classroom commands; respond to commands; recognise simple questions and know how to respond; be aware of the spelling of numbers 1–10 and other familiar words; recognise how some sounds are represented in written form; join in with whole-class responses.
Some children may not have progressed as far and will be able to: recognise some of the vocabulary for simple items, numbers and greetings; produce responses to simple questions about the core vocabulary and commands with support from a spoken model or visual cue; make links between sounds and spellings with considerable support and repetition; begin to join in with whole-class responses.
Some children may have made greater progress and will be able to: understand, pronounce and spell the core vocabulary; use visual cues to produce sentences and words using memorised language; join in with story telling; read words and simple phrases aloud accurately; make links between sounds and spellings; begin to join in with group or pair work.
