Learning outcomes By the end of the module, the majority of children will be able to: understand and pronounce the parts of the body correctly; respond to commands; recognise simple questions and know how to respond; be aware of the spelling of the parts of the body and other familiar words; recognise how some sounds are represented in written form; contribute to group or pair work. Some children may not have progressed as far and will be able to: recognise some of the vocabulary for parts of the body; produce responses to simple questions about the core vocabulary and commands with support from a spoken model or visual cue; make links between sounds and spellings with support and repetition; join in with whole-class responses. Some children may have made greater progress and will be able to: understand, pronounce and spell the core vocabulary; respond to and reproduce commands; use visual cues to produce sentences and words using mainly memorised language; join in with story telling; read words and simple sentences aloud accurately; make links between sounds and spellings and apply this knowledge to other similar- sounding words; begin to contribute individually to whole-class work.
