Lesson 1: Travelling
Explore similarities and differences between countries.
Have you been to a country that is very different from where you live? Maybe very hot, or very cold?
Write down three facts about a country and draw a picture.
Research a Commonwealth country and create a poster to attract visitors to that country. Include a short slogan.
The Queen is the Head of the Commonwealth. She has travelled more than any other monarch in the history of Britain.
Learn about the Commonwealth. Are there any things that all the Commonwealth countries have in common?
How many differences can you think of?
Learn about the Commonwealth. Name some key similarities and differences between Commonwealth countries.

Lesson 2: Pets

Caring for pets. Which animals make good pets? Why?
What do people have to think about before getting a pet? Where will the pet sleep? Who will feed it?
Why is it important to look after pets?
Draw your pet, or a pet you have seen in the video. Can you draw where the pet lives?
The Queen loves horses and dogs. She owns and breeds corgis and a cross-breed between corgis and dachshunds, which is called a ‘dorgi’.
How pets help us. Why do you think dogs are so good at helping people?
Can you think of other animals that help people in different ways?
Write a description of your ideal pet — what characteristics would it have, and why?
Selective breeding. Which different dog breeds do you know? What are their similarities and differences?
What is selective breeding, and why do people choose to cross-breed dogs?
Compare two different breeds of dog. Write down their differences and their similarities. In which situations might certain features be practical?

The Queen's favourite style of dance is Scottish country dancing. Each year, during her stay at Balmoral Castle, The Queen hosts dances known as Gillies' Balls.
Scottish country dancing. Why do you think the Queen enjoys Scottish country dancing?
Do you know any other traditional dances?
What type of dancing do you enjoy?
Print out the instructions and play the music — have a go at dancing like the Queen!
