In today’s lesson you will be looking at comprehensive questions, imperative verbs and adjectives to make your writing exciting and interesting.

Task 1Read the advert below to remind yourself what the text is about.

Now you have reminded yourself about the wonderful wizard advert, answer the following questions.

Task 3Your next task is to think about some of the exciting words that you can use in your writing to exaggerate the points you are making. This will make your advert much more persuasive.Choose at least 5 of the words in the grid below and write a sentence for each that includes the word in the sentence. Write these in your distance learning journal.

a) Using the words that are in the grid above, you now need to use these to fill in the gaps below to make the hotel they are describing sound wonderful. If you can think of your own words, then that is just as fantastic!

b) No have a go at swapping your adjectives to negative ones and make your hotel sound like a horrible place to visit. It’s amazing what an adjective can do to a word!

Task 5Sentences of three can also be very powerful, have a look at the example below and then write your own about the hotel, carrying on from the sentence stem provided.

These draw you in by speaking to you personally and try and make you believe everything the writer is telling you. They make you feel like you must do what the writer says or have what they are offering. Have a look at some examples and then write your own in the space below.

Task 7Your last task is to think about imperative (bossy) verbs. Telling your reader what do to in a bossy way is a much-used persuasive technique. For this toy use imperative verbs that are straight to the point. They are great for adverts are they instruct you to do something.Here are some examples. The imperative verbs are highlighted in bold.

Look at the passage below and highlight all of the imperative verbs.

In today’s lesson you will be learning about Metamorphosis and learning how animals are able to change.

Metamorphosis is a process by which animals undergo an abrupt and obvious change in the structure of their body and their behaviour.

Some animals undergo complete metamorphosis; in which they completely transform. Other animals experience incomplete metamorphosis, where they go through several different stages, with each stage getting bigger than the last.

Amphibians and insects are examples of animals that undergo metamorphosis. Their life cycles show the stages of their transformations.

Below are four different amphibians and insects that go through metamorphosis.

Task 1

Your first task is to read through the different life cycles of the amphibians and insects.

Now you have familiarised yourself with the key facts about their lifecycles, fill in the gaps of the information sheets below.
