Get the children to sound out the alien words listed below. Do

Make a comic strip of their daily routine. Draw as many pictures as you would like.

Then using the words before and after ask them questions about their daily

routine.

This will expose your child to the language of

o’clock.

Today your task is to make your own clock.

Colour in the longer minute hand blue and the shorter hour hand

red.

Explain to your child that the minute hand is

the longer hand and that has to move

around the whole clock before the hour hand

(the short hand) points to the next number.

Today the focus will be on teaching the children the

hour Make a diary of what you are

doing at9 o’clock11 o’clock1 o’clock3 o’clock

Get the children to watch the clock and make sure they tell

you when the clock shows these times. To help show

them the time on their home-made clock and get them spot when the real clock shows the

same time.

Today we are going to focus on

the children telling the time to

the half past.

Explain that when you say half past… the minute hand points to

the 6 as it goes half way around the clock.

Get the children to show youHalf past 2

(minute hand one the 6 and hour hand on the 2)

Play a game of calling our different times and get the child to make them on their homemade clock.

Writing; Name is the game!Draw your name in large bubble writing or print it off in a fancy font! Write lots of words all about you inside or around your name. Make it look pretty by using lots of different colours.

Writing; Proud CloudWrite down things you are proud of that you have achieved in Year 1.

Write them in the middle of cloud shapes and display them on your window.

Read them and smile!

Writing; Perfect Poster!Create and decorate a poster which spreads positivity.

Think of a positive saying and write it on your poster

Put it up in your home and repeat every day to make us feel happy!

Writing;Write your worries away!Write your worries down and put them in a jar.

Discuss them with a family member and find solutions together.

Tear them up if you can make them go away!

Writing; Letter Writing.Write a letter to you new class teacher. What would you like to ask her?

Tell them something about you. What’s your favourite lesson?What are you good at?Tell them something you have achieved this year in Year 1.

Send your letters to the Year 1 email address and we can pass them on to your new teacher.

Handwriting – It is very important that the children keep practicing handwriting during the lockdown period. Use the letters below to make sure the letters are the correct height and that they sit on the line. Make sure they are holding their pencil correctly before writing.

Master competition –This week your task is to complete a woodland picture/model.

What will you make? What things can you find to create your picture/model?
