Greetings OKCGC Members: Next month is our 19th Annual Women’s Fun Shoot scheduled for Saturday, September 8, 2018. We are always in need of volunteers the day of the event, from instructing on the line to jockeying water to the different ranges. There is a task for an-yone wanting to get their work days in. We also have slots available for Friday set up that need to be filled. Without the time and dedication of our members, this event could have never grown to the extent and had the success it has garnered to date. This event is the largest and most successful instructional shooting clinic for women in the nation and it is due to the involvement and efforts of this club. In addition, if you or your company want to be a sponsor, you will have the option to have your company name on the event t-shirt and promote your company via the shooters bags, etc.
Deadline for sponsorship is 8/30/2018. Even though we are still in the dog days of Summer, I can just almost smell Fall around the corner! As the temperatures get cooler, the range will get busier with eve-ryone sighting in rifles and just getting out to enjoy the weather. I want to remind every member to wear their gun club identification badge. It is essential for us to know who is and who is NOT a member. It is mandatory when you step on the grounds to wear your badge at all times. If you do not have a badge on and another member inquiries,
please do not be offended. In fact I encourage everyone to respectfully “ASK” if you see anyone who is not wearing a badge if they are member. Everyone forgets oc-casionally; however, repeated rule violations could result in restrictions to your mem-bership.

2018 IHMSA World Championships By Jim Fields - Match Director
The 2018 IHMSA World Championships held at the Oklahoma City Gun Club July 13th thru the 21st, was a total success with entries totaling 516, not bad considering the turn-out was down some. I want to personally thank everyone that helped during this match, much appreciated. Weather conditions were a little on the warm side with temperatures averaging around 93 de-grees for the 9 days of the event. We actually had rain a couple of days which held temperatures down some. However wind conditions for the entire match were on the calm side as the scores be-low indicate. Our target setters did an excellent job the entire nine days. Our 12 foot apron on the back side of our 403 ft. firing line allowed spotters & spectators the con-venience of shaded area from morning into the late afternoon. As normal, shooters from as far away as Australia & Brazil were in attendance & were greeted by our air-conditioned reloading facility 20 yards from the firing line completed last year & they took full advantage by reloading several thousand rounds of their favorite calibers to be shot in this match & the upcoming East Coast Championship at Tusco Gun Club in Ohio. We certainly appreciate our overseas shooters for traveling great distances to shoot in our fantastic sport of handgun silhouette competition. On Friday the shoot-offs began at 8 am sharp & lasted to about 11:30 am. & some precision shooting was observed by all, the trophy presentation followed in our air-conditioned main club-house. We had sort of a ceremonial 500 meter lifting of the targets immediately following the shoot-offs & the guest of honor operating what we call the magic twanger or wireless remote transmitter was none other than the wife of Barry Whitford, Janet Whitford who did the heavy lifting of all targets out to 500 meters, upon completing this task & with everyone giving her a standing ovation, where upon she planted a smack-er-roo on the side of my cheek & with husband Barry on my right elbow, I was a bit nervous!! Some of the highlights of the match included April Edney & her husband Doug attending our match with April winning high lady in UAS-SB with a 79x80 & Doug winning several standing cham-pionships. Also thanks go to Zach Groves & Monica Malmgren for attending our match. John Weaver won the scope category in ULTRA 500 with a 39x40, down a ram & Rich Hawkins winning both the ULTRA 500 iron-sight & the aggregate championship, 34x40 iron, 35x40 scope, which resulted in an aggregate score of 69x80, great shooting guys. Jacob Weaver, John Weavers grandson, won several of the junior division categories, great shooting Jacob. I think he has an excellent firearms instructor. Joe Cullison did it again winning the Iron man award with a 584x640, great shooting Joe. Linda Lanning, Atwood, KS, won high lady in BB-UAS with an 80x80, great shooting Linda. With low wind & excellent lighting conditions all week we had a total of seventy (70) 80x80's & a 39x40 in ULTRA 500 plus four (5) 40x40's in AIR competition. WOW!! Broken down, Big Bore, Revolver, 0, Production, three (3), BB Unlimited, eight (8), BB 1/2 scale, six (6) & BB UAS, seventeen (17) In Small-bore, Production 1, Revolver 0, Unlimited, six (6) UASFS, (1/5) three (3) UFS, (1/5) zero (0) UAS, fifteen (15) PH Short, five (5) PH .22, zero (0) PH Long one (1) AIR five (5) What's unreal, that is the same number (70) as last year, & last year was a record!!! The 2019 IHMSA World Championships, for the sixth time in the last 7 years, again will be held here at the Oklahoma City Gun Club, tentative dates are set for July 12th thru the 20th. Make plans to attend that one for sure. Also, have a friend in OKC area that makes excellent blast shields, contact me for more info. This shoot is intended to provide information and “Hands on” instruction in the safe and proper handling of fire-arms. All firearms and ammunition will be provided for registrants and instruction provided by certified firearms instructors. We invite women of all ages and expertise to join in, with no experience necessary to participate. This shoot will be firearms safety and familiarizations and provide women an opportunity to see the many different shooting sports available to them in a safe and positive environment.

Action Pistol Division 70 shooters rolled out for the July USPSA match and 67 entries for the Steel Challenge match. With vacations, work and other matches taking place, we’ve had to cancel some 3-Gun matches this year. It’s a volunteer-driven sport, so we do what we can. The scores are as follows:

A couple of incentives to help setup matches:
Help setup on Friday and you'll get a ticket in a drawing for a pistol later this year. Exact details are being finalized on the drawing, but it's our way of saying thank you to those who come and help - it is a volunteer sport. Our plan is to make this a regular feature for our USPSA matches.
To encourage online registration, two names will be drawn from the Practiscore Regis-tration and will have their match free of charge.

Reloading Division Coming Soon Many of us begin our reloading endeavors through a friend or acquaintance in an informal
setting often leaving the neophyte with more questions than answers. Enter the Oklahoma City Gun Club; the club leadership is establishing a Reloading Division which will meet at the Silhouette Range! NRA certified reloading instructors will teach classes in metallic rifle and pistol reloading as well as shotshell reloading. In addition, the facility will be open at different times to allow you to re-load your ammunition without the expense of equipment under the watchful eye of experience certi-fied reloading instructors. Currently we are wrapping up the details, certifying instructors, and acquir-ing equipment.
Reloading can save you money or allow you to work-up loads tailor made to shoot from your firearms providing you with a more accurate load than you can achieve through mass produced am-munition. You’ll find that it is a great pastime and one that reaps rewards for years.

Reloading Division Donations??
If you currently reload or have in the past there is a good chance that you have some reload-ing equipment, dies, shell holders, etc. that you do not use anymore. The new reloading division is looking for serviceable reloading equipment and supplies, if you would like to donate something to the division it would be greatly appreciated. Single Stage Presses, Shotshell Presses, scales, pow-der measures, Dies, Calipers, etc. would help!
