We are now into the long days of summer and we’ve really had some nice sunny days lately. On Sunday we had our first in-person services since the middle of March. I think they went well. Following the Phase II guidelines from the State we had 15 people at the 8:30 service and 19 at the 10:30. We did Communion in a way that kept people distant and safe. Everyone said it was nice to be there and we’re learning how to do things in a new way—at least for the time being. So, we have services on Sunday both at church and online. And if anyone wants to be at church but remain in the parking lot—we are also transmitting via FM radio!
The Moravian Daily Text for Tuesday (June 23) included this passage from II Timothy 2:8-10, “Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.” While I wouldn’t compare the Pandemic lockdown and restrictions to being chained like a criminal, I would say that we are all experiencing limitations beyond our control. I can’t imagine how “out of control” Paul felt. He was the founder and leader of so many churches in Asia Minor that needed support and leadership. Yet Paul himself was chained up in a Roman prison. This was probably one reason why Paul had named Timothy to head up the “church headquarters” in Ephesus—which was the center at that time for all the churches in the area. In his letters to Timothy, Paul warned him about the barriers and limitations that he would encounter as the new leader. And so, reminding him that “God’s word is not chained” was something that all Christian leaders and disciples need to remember. Despite the limitations that God’s people and the church will face in this world, God and his voice will not be silenced. So, we’re meeting again. God’s word is being taught and heard and shared among us and the world. So, matter what may come, we will believe and say: “God’s word is not changed!”.

ship services beginning June 21. Services will continue to be taped until further notice.

Parish Nurses Notes
Linda Whitesell, RN/NP We have all had some extra time on our hands and this is a perfect time to do something different. Take time to be creative in its many forms. In doing so, you will stimulate your mind, feel better, be more confident, have less stress and anxiety. When we create, we are using our senses and
engaging in a form of problem-solving; thus, giving us a sense of accom-plishment. It lets us express emotions we cannot put into words. Don’t think you can draw, paint or create artwork? Try preprinted designs to color, paint by numbers, preprinted needlework, rock painting, even doodling. It is all good for you.
Creativity is your intelligent brain having fun.
•Pastor Gib is organizing a group to read through
a couple of books.
•The first book, is “When Helping hurts: How to
Alleviate poverty without hurting...” Steven
Corbett & Brain Fikkert. This book is for
those interested in helping those in poverty, but
want to do it effectively and so as not to cause
harm to the helper or the ones being helped.
•The second book is, “evil and the justice of god”
N.T. Wright gives us a background in the Bible
foundation of evil and offers wise council to
Christians and the church in how to face it.
•Those interested are encouraged to buy these
books from Amazon on your own. Pr. Gib is willing
to help those folks who have never bought books
online before. We’ll start as soon as a group is
formed and everyone has their books.

Lutherwood Friends,
First and foremost, we hope that you and your loved ones are doing well. All of us are
living through an unprecedented and concerning time.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has unfolded, we continually work with our health
department to monitor the situation. The Lutherwood Board of Directors and
Leadership have gathered as much information as possible to aid in our decision
making process relating to offering summer camp.
After much consideration of all the options before us, it is with
great sadness to inform you that Lutherwood Camp and
Retreat Center has decided to suspend our summer camp
programs for the 2020 summer.
Lutherwood is where kids can get outdoors, learn lots of new skills, grow in their
faith, have fund with peers, and develop independence. But, as always, the safety of
our members, volunteers, and employees is our top priority.
The Lutherwood Board of Directors and Leadership are offering alternative ways you
can spend time in the outdoors at Lutherwood this summer. Congregations are
invited to have their own outdoor morning or evening worship. Our campground and
lodges are also available for family groups. Please visit our website and social media

On July 4, 1776, the 13 colonies claimed their independence from England, an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States. Each year on the fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, Americans celebrate this historic event.
Conflict between the colonies and England was already a year old when the colonies convened a Continental Congress in Philadelphia in the summer
of 1776. In a June 7 session in the Pennsylvania State House (later Independence Hall), Richard Henry Lee of Virginia presented a resolution with the famous words: "Resolved: That these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States, that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain is, and ought to be, totally dissolved."
