YEAR 6 TO 7 TRANSITION Each year parents of grade 5 students seek information about secondary schools and where our current grade 6 students are heading next year. Below is the list of schools that our grade 6 students have enrolled in for 2019. I urge parents of current grade 5 students to start the process of researching secondary schools now as the timeline next year in which choices have to be submitted is not long. Parents of 2019 Grade 6 children will receive an information pack in the first week of Term 2 and forms will need to back to school in early May. For further in-formation, parents can visit the following Department of Education & Training website: https://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/parents/needs/Pages/supportstudents.aspx

PUPIL FREE CURRICULUM DAY - MONDAY 5th NOVEMBER. The last Pupil Free Curriculum Day for the year is on Monday 5th November. As the ‘Melbourne Cup’ public holiday falls on the Tuesday 6th November, school will resume in that week on Wednesday 7th November.

STUDENT PLACEMENT REQUESTS Determining class placements is a complex task where staff members undertake a considerable lengthy process to ensure the best possible placement is made to meet each student's educational needs. Factors that we take into consideration when making class placements include: academic achievement, personal / interpersonal development, friendship groups, learning styles, gender balance and other individual learning needs. It is important to understand that with so many factors to con-sider it is not possible to accommodate every request. Teachers discuss, reflect and review their decisions over several weeks. However, please be aware that each and every factor in the decision as to where a child is placed for next year is given our utmost attention. If you have, any information based upon ‘education grounds’ (not teachers) that should be considered in relation to the placement of your child it needs to be sent to me in writing by no later than FRI-DAY 9TH NOVEMBER. As situations change, previous requests should be resubmitted, if the reason still exists. After this date, new information will not be considered. Parents will be notified of placements in the last week of term.
