The articles are easy to read, informative and practical and provide handy tips and research into a number of topics. Please read them and let me know if there are certain topics of interest that I might be able to follow up with an article. New Office Business Procedures

I have previously written about the Learning Management and Business Reform (LMBR) that is taking place at our school. The ‘go live’ day is Monday 17 October. Deputy Principal’s Report

Special Group Photo Day Thursday 3 November Please see the attached schedule for special photo day on Thursday 3 November. Students may wish to wear or bring to school specific group uniforms or costumes to change into at school. Groups are to wear whatever they wear when they're participating in that group's activity eg band = band uniform, Oz Tag = Sports Uniform. However, if there is a variation to this then the group will be notified.

Outstanding Learning Environment During recent impromptu visits to classrooms on Tuesday I observed fantastic pedagogy in practice across our school. There was obvious differentiation in teaching and learning with a range of student groupings in opera-tion catering for student learning needs across the curriculum. School learning support officers and parents were closely supporting a range of students in their learning. All classroom teachers were engaging with stu-dents and employing either individual, small group work or whole class activities and students were enthusias-tically completing tasks and supporting the learning of their peers. I am proud to work with such a highly pro-fessional team.

ICAS Results Congratulations to the following students for outstanding results in the recent ICAS English and/or Mathemat-ics tests: Ryley D, Jessica H, Olivia W and Mark T. Ross Edwards Deputy Principal

The Partners in Learning Parent Feedback Survey

Our school is participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school's support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements. The survey is conducted entirely online at home or on public computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey will be conducted between 22 Au-gust and 21 October. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, however, your responses are very much appreciated.

More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents

Prize Donations Do you own or work for a company that would be happy to donate items for our raffle and silent auction? We would love to hear from you! Please leave donations at the front office.

Plant Donations

Thank you to the wonderful parents who have donated their free native seedling voucher from Suth-erland Council, keep them coming! We are also in need of donations of plants. If you’re looking for a fun activity to share with your children, consider growing some seedlings for the plant stall eg herbs, veggies or pretty annuals!

Sponsorship

We are looking for sponsors for each Year stall for our fast approaching Family Fun Day on Sunday 13 November. This would involve a $500 donation and in return the sponsor will receive advertising on the day on a Year stall (you just need to let us know in what year your child is) and also advertising throughout the year in the school newsletter, website and facebook page. We are also looking for donations for the silent auction and chocolate wheel. If you can help in any way please let us know (contact numbers are listed below). Any queries can be directed to our email address: [email protected]. Please remember we need the support of our community and our Engadine West families for this event to be a success.

School or Child/Youth Opal Card

What is a School or Child/Youth Opal Card?

The School Opal card is a free travel or discounted travel Opal card to help eligible students to get to and from school. It is only valid for approved travel on school days between your home and school with restricted hours, on the mode(s) specified in the original application. For travel outside of School, for personal travel or if ineligible for a School Opal card, students should use a Child/Youth Opal card, a concession fare Opal card for customers aged 4/15 (inclusive), or customers 16 years or older who hold a NSW/ACT Senior Secondary School Concession Card. The card must have sufficient balance on it for the intended travel.

Tap on and off, every time to validate your trip

At the start of each trip, tap on by placing your Opal card on an Opal card reader located at the entrance of the bus. At the end of the trip, tap off by placing your Opal card on an Opal reader again.

Opal card holders must always tap on and off for each trip and each transport mode used during their jour-ney.

If an error message displays when tapping on or off, students must take notes of the error code and contact Opal Customer Care for assistance.

No tap on and off, no bus services

Although some might have a free pass, all students must tap on and tap off, so we understand customer travel patterns and can adjust the services provided if necessary. If students don’t tap on and off, services may be withdrawn due to the lack of recorded patronage, or redi-rected to other schools where the demand is higher.

Any lost, stolen, faulty or damaged Opal card must be reported online immediately. While waiting for a replacement card, students must use a Child/Youth Opal card to travel.

Your Opal Customer Care useful contacts
