TRIBUTE TO THE FOUNDER – 88TH FOUNDER’S DAY

The school celebrated the 88th Founder's Day on 8th April 2019. Students and staff remembered the Founder

of the school Shri Alok Chandra Deb and his legacy. The programme commenced with the singing of the school

song 'Sangachatvam sangatatvam' - a Rigvedic shloka calling upon all to be united. This was followed by a beautiful

rendition of the Founder's favourite Bengali songs ‘Aguner Poroshmoni’ and ‘Ekla Cholo Re’ by the school choir.

The students of class X presented a short documentary on Shri Alok Chandra Deb’s life and achievements,

highlighting his vision and mission while the students of class IX performed a graceful dance on the Bengali song

to help them connect with the alma mater and to foster a spirit of loyalty, the school organized an Alumni Meet

for the batches of 1941-1979 in April 2019 to commemorate Founder’s Day.

The Principal, Mrs. Seebaluck welcomed all and the programme commenced with the nostalgic singing of the

school song by the alumni along with the school choir, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

Dr. Kalyani Roy, alumna of 1949 and Secretary- Society for the Advancement of Education, addressed the

gathering and shared her experiences as an old student of the school. A slideshow of pictures and video messages

of illustrious alumni was displayed followed by a short documentary which showcased the evolution of Cambridge

School as a prominent institution nurturing the solidarity that exists amongst the generations of its students, who

have sincerely followed the school motto: ‘We Learn to Serve’.

Present on the occasion were prominent alumni of the school such as former bureaucrat Mr. Raj Bhargav, Mr.

Madan Pania, Mr. Kamal Jit Chaudhary, Mr. Neeladri Bhattacharya, JNU professor of History and writer of many

The old students took a walk down the corridors of nostalgia and memories. A great bonhomie and excitement

was observed everywhere with the old students reliving their memories, ringing the school bell, receiving their

alumni pins, wearing the school caps, etc. They sat on the old school benches in the classrooms and recaptured

their memories through pictures and videos, visited the school canteen and the playground of their childhood

days!

One and all expressed deep gratitude to the school Founder Shri Alok Chandra Deb as well as to their teachers

for the values and education received. The alumni were deeply moved with the opportunity to revisit and relive

the schooldays spent together and to catch up with each other. The programme culminated with Mrs. Bindoo

Gupta delivering a vote of thanks and the alumni pledging support to the school.

PARENT ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

The foundation of a good parent - teacher relationship is frequent and open communication and good

understanding. Keeping this is in mind, the school organized the Parent Orientation Programme in March – April

for classes III – XII to prepare for the new academic session. The programme commenced with a warm welcome

of the parents by the Principal, Mrs. Seebaluck. She shared the school's vision and mission and suggested measures

to nurture children and emphasized the school's role in inculcating values such as empathy and perseverance,

besides sharing the school's achievements of the past year.

Parents were introduced to the academic and co-curricular plan for the year for each class by the Class

Representatives while stressing the importance of the school's teaching pedagogy, assessment pattern, facilities,

etc. This was followed with the Counselors session regarding the diverse needs of the students. The Computer

department provided hands on information about the parent portal.
