Principal’s Message
Thank you to all our families who came along to support the Parish Fete. It was wonderful to see so many of our teachers, students and their families in attendance. Thanks also to the many parents who baked for the cake stall and to Mrs Maree Puntoriero who co-ordinated our army of helpers and bakers for this. An outstanding and delicious number
of cakes and slices were received. It is on occasions such as this that our community spirit is built. Your support and attendance are very much appreciated. CONGRATULATIONS Mr Michael Morrell has be appointed the Co-Assistant Principal of St Patrick's Primary School for the next 3 Years. His Co-Assistant will be Mr Daniel Tuohey (currently Principal of St Peter's, Coleambally). This Co-Assistant Principal role is a new initiative for our Diocese and St Patrick's has been chosen as a pilot school. This initiative is being funded and supported by the Catholic Schools Office. We are heralded as being a lighthouse school for this programme. We are very excited by this new way forward and congratulate both Mr Morrell and Mr Tuohey on taking up this challenge. CLASS LISTS 2018 Teachers and students are very busy at the moment assessing the Semester's work and writing Semester 2 reports. We will also be working on Class Lists for 2018 shortly. Please be aware that teachers work very hard to try and make sure that your child is in the best possible group for their learning for the next year. We have not yet completed the teams of teachers for 2018 but we hope to have this completed in the coming weeks. Reports will be emailed home to you on 11th December. ALAN BOWYER RETIREMENT Next week (November 24th ) sees the retirement Mass and Dinner for Mr Alan Bowyer. Mr Bowyer has been the Director for Catholic Education in the Wagga Wagga Diocese for many years.

Mr Morrell and Mrs Campbell will represent our school at this occasion at the Cathedral in Wagga. Mr Bowyer has made a significant contribution to Catholic Education, as a teacher a Principal and as Director, over many years and we thank him, as a school, for all his work and dedication. We wish him
and his wife Helen, a very restful retirement. Thanks also go to all parents who have been so generous with our fundraising over the past couple of weeks. Socktober, Little Paths, Minnie Vinnies Christmas appeal and our upcoming Colour Fun Run raise money for much needed causes. This year our school community have given very generously to all these appeals. The recipients of your generosity are very grateful. Have a great week. Sandra Campbell Principal

EnviroMentors Workshop
St Patrick’s have booked for 5 days of 4 x 1-hr workshops with the EnviroMentors. EnviroMentors has been the country’s leading mobile incursion-based environmental education program, reaching every corner of NSW with sustainability workshops since 1994. EnviroMentors focuses on motivating communities to participate in simple and practical ways to improve their local environment. St Patrick’s values stewardship and this is reflected in the school’s Vision and Mission. The EnviroMentors educators will focus on litter reduction, bin contamination, promotion of organic recycling, waste reduction, resource conservation, water conservation and sustainability to name a few. We are very pleased to give our students this opportunity to learn about and engage in these important environmental issues.
The EnviroMentors Educators will visit our school on Thursday 23rd, Friday 24th, Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th November.

Sandra and I would like to wish all our basketball teams the best of luck as they travel to Goulburn this weekend to represent our school in the Catholic Primary School’s Basketball challenge. A big thank you to Anita Forlico, Kylie Pastro, Ang Ellis, Deb Della Franca, Annette Waide, Lee, Wayne and Mitch Salvestro, Scott Connor, Kate Beltrame and Sarah Dunbar for their commitment to organising and coaching their respective teams. Lastly, we are very grateful for the long hours Maryanne Dodd has put in behind the scenes to make this event possible.

I have exactly $100 in notes in my wallet. What notes might I have?
I have 2 coins in one hand and 1 coin in the other the other hand. Each hand is of equal value.
What could the coins be?
I tipped out my money box and counted $36 exactly in notes and coins. There were a lot of coins.

YEAR 6
Walanmarra Gundyarri Schools Cultural
Day On Wednesday the 25th October Year 6 went to West End Oval to attend a day of celebration for
NAIDOC day. When we arrived we felt privileged to be a part of an event that was attended by so many
schools. There were over 500 Stage 3 students in attendance!
There were three sections to the day. The first section was dedicated to learning about Aboriginal culture.
We participated in Aboriginal art activities, aboriginal dance moves, learnt how to say Aboriginal words and
how to throw a boomerang. Another section involved playing backyard rugby league. We practiced drills and
skills and played a few games. We were all given a football at the end!! The last section of the day was mainly
based on networking with other schools and having fun!! It was an ultimate dance party!! The dj taught us some
awesome dance moves. We all participated enthusiastically and had a ball!!
For lunch the Aboriginal community and Youth off the Streets provided us with a BBQ lunch. There was
also an ice-cream truck on hand for us to treat ourselves!! We received so many gifts and giveaways through-
out the day- which was so exciting!!
During the day we engaged in two Aboriginal art activities involving paint and handprints. At the end of the
day a boomerang canvas and additional canvas were given to us as a gift to our school.
Thank you to our amazing Year 6 teachers for organising this opportunity and informative cultural learning
experience. Year 6 had the best day, full of laughter and fun and we all learnt a lot about the Aboriginal cul-
ture and also the skills involved with the games and different activities.

Sport News: Term 4 Week 6
Well done to Nicholas McGibbon, from Year 4, who trialled in Wagga for the Diocesan
Cricket team, on Friday. Nicholas played very well and impressed the selectors who
encouraged him to trial again next year. Terrific work Nicholas.
This coming weekend students from grades three to six are participating in the Catholic
Primary Schools Basketball Challenge. We have 5 teams competing. Do enjoy the
weekend and do St. Patrick’s proud. Thank you to the parents and siblings who have been
coaching and managing the various teams and have given up their time to transport their children to this
carnival. Have a fun-filled weekend and do travel and stay safe.
Thank you to Danny Dossetor who has now completed a four week tennis program to the whole school, with
the exception of Year 5. The students have thoroughly enjoyed the lessons and acquired many tennis skills.
Thank you Danny.
We wish the students competing in Diocesan Tennis and Basketball trials in the following weeks, in Albury, all
the best and we will report back on their progress in the next newsletter.
We look forward to a two week Back Yard League program by the NRL Development officers, Chris Hanneman
and Andrew Lavaka. These two gentlemen are working with Marian Catholic College to deliver this program to
our students. We thank them and the students from Marian Catholic College for providing our students with this
great opportunity. Today the NRL guys also began a three week program with Kinders, Year 1 and Year 2 which
involves reading and footy skills.
We also wish Hayden Forner all the very best as he heads to Orange as a member of the MacKillop cricket team,
to compete in the PSSA cricket carnival. This is a great achievement and very deserving of a student who has put
in a lot of time developing his cricket skills.
Have a great week
Take care
