Koalas
Tuesday July 18th
with Keeley, Georgia and Ellie!
It was a wonderful day to play outside today in
the sunshine!
We had lots of fun with our friends!
On the see saw...playing with Hula Hoops, pushing our friends on the swing.
Making many cakes in the sandpit!!
...even feeding some pet dinosaurs!
Callan, Liam, Jackson and Oska were busy filling their trucks with wood and
transporting them to the new cubby house to 'make a fire!'
Lots of other games including pushing, riding and pulling friends!
Talking through tubes!
...
and climbing!
Inside we had some fun news today!
Harvey showed us book "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" and we read it to the class -
most of us know the story quite well!
Harvey then showed us pictures on Educa because he went to see the LIVE SHOW!
He showed us the tickets and told us who each one was for...he liked the part where
"some people were squirting at everybody!"
Miki was giggling and very excited to show her friends her photos from the farm - she
told us that they stayed in the "caravan, even Chili came!" She told us it was very "cold"
there and pointed out all the "ice" on the ground!
Imogen had some Frozen news! She had been to see "Frozen on Ice...there is the
stage" she pointed out..."and Kristof and Anna!" She showed us her bag of goodies
telling us about the Anna doll "that's what Abi got and that's what I wear to the show"
(showing us the necklace and pointing to her picture)
Ruby was also keen to show us photos of her visit to the Aquarium! Showing us where
the "penguins" were and the "sharks!" It instigated some good questions from the
Koalas class...like 'why is it dark in there?'
It's great when news time evokes questions from peers! Thanks Ruby!
As a follow up from Harvey's news we set up a 'bear hunt' in the classroom! The
children had to go through the river, the woods and the snow storm..
...to find the bear in it's cave!!
Yesterday we did some 'science' and froze some water to make our own frozen
wonderland given all the interest in ice, cold and snow lately! Today we got everything
out of the freezer and added some shaving cream (SNOW!) to the mix! The children
loved the feel of it all!
"It's freezing!" noted Callan.
"Squishy" Miki
"COLD!" Emily
"ooooo! hehehe COLD!!" Iluka
We have also been talking about feelings a lot at kindy so today the class were invited
to create some faces in play dough!
Hudson came to show me his when he was finished "it's me" he said...feeling.."scared!"
he said, though laughing while he did!
Miki's news inspired us to do some easel painting! Thanks Miki....good idea, we all love
some easel painting!
India painted her 'duckie!'
We had some 'aquarium' sea creatures and Arctic creatures to play with as well..which
Reef and Parker enjoyed!
Ruby and Jack Strom played together in home corner with the babies and food..
While Callan, Jackson and Oska were busy building on the mat..."like our house
Keeley?"
Oska asked...adding "I sleep in there" putting his tiger in the block!
Imogen reminded me that we never finished our discussion about the frozen water
from yesterday!
SO we got out the yellow tray that was in the fridge..and the blue tray that was on the
bench and felt the difference in them.. one was certainly colder! But not as cold as the
ice we'd just been playing with!
Thanks for a cool day Koalas! See you all again next time! x
