Analysis

In Katy Perry song there repetitive range of shots which involves a few close up and mid shots. Through out the songs we are seeing Katy sat at a make up table a lot from which could be classed as performing shots but you will realise throughout the video it is narrative shot as she getting ready to go out to a funeral in the video.

The song thinking of you is meant to be set in the 1940’s, we recognise by there hair makeup and the setting. This is different type of song is different to other song she has san as this one is set older back

than her new ones as they are more in the present/future.

Analysis

Through-out Ellie Gouldings song she uses a wide range of different locations which in comparison to Katy Perry is completely different as she used locations that all linked together to create her narrative. Ellie song doesn't have a narrative to it if the shots are her performing there shots of her having fun with her friends which then appeals to her target audience.

Right from the beginning we can tell who's her target audience is as we start up with a close up o her feet, but when she starts singing we have a long shot of her sat on the phone. We see she has a toe separator in-between her toes which shows she is giving herself manicure, this automatically appeals more to the girl target audience

Analysis

In Taylor swifts video it is mostly performing shots of her singing and no shots of her narrative story. Through-out the song she might have props that link into her lyrics of her song but there isn’t a narrative story. We could get the impression she is retelling her story to someone else on the phone at the beginning but we aren’t sure.

Within Taylor swift song ‘our song’ there is a wide range of shots and she also has shots that are still but then within the same shot she will zoom in and out but the shot will be still focused on her. This happens a lot through-out Taylor's music video.

Analysis

In the song Taylor Swift has her hair done and make up done all nice and pretty. Her clothing isn’t a fashion statement as she starts off in shorts and a very top but later on in the video we see her in a purple flow prom dress. This could create the illusion she is in her own fairy-tale fantasy and she is a princess. This bring us back to the image that Taylor creates fairy-tale illusions in her songs.

Page 23: Printscreens

The location is starts off in her bedroom/bathroom which is typical place for a teenage girl to be and seeing she is on the phone it is somewhere private for her to talk. Later on in the video we end up on her porch which is very girly setting with the use of prop of pink iron chair her colourful lanterns.

The genre we are focusing on in particular is ‘Pop’

From looking at the different camera shot within these two music videos it has shown me that not every music video has a narrative within it and can just be performing shots. Songs from other genre’s as well if they are having performing shots they are in some complete different location to where they are in the narrative location, the location through-out the music video’s stay the same. The Katy Perry video her narrative of her song involves her performing shots as she is seeing about a loved one who has gone away. Ellie Goulding song she doesn’t have a narrative at all and all of her shots are fun shots which has all her friends in and they are just messing about and having fun. This is similar with the Taylor swift song I have chosen as she just has performing shots which has props which refer to her lyrics so it could class as her narrative.
