SMART packaging

Light weight RTU packaging provides convenience asit can be easily poured and match the exact volumeof the Prisma® standard reservoirs. Furthermore thekits guarantee a perfect consistent formulation, whicheliminates lot to lot variability.

The H&E Staining Kits do not require any filtration upfront, reducing hazardous reagent handling. Theexact volume avoids left overs, which leads again toreduced exposure to chemicals.

The staining pouches protect the H&E stainingsolutions against light, ensuring quality. Easilyemptied, inventory and waste is dramatically reducedcompared to current high volume bottles.

In short: Technician time is saved, variables anderrors in the staining preparation process (mixing,weighing, heating) are reduced and no moreunnecessary storage of hazardous chemicals orexposure to these chemicals.

The validated staining protocol, in combination withthe optimized formulation of the RTU H&E StainingKits, will give a more pronounced and high qualitystaining result.

This result is particularly characterized in a betterstain performed by the Eosin, clearly providing threedifferent shades of pink (1, 2, 3). Hematoxylinprovides crisp blue/ purple nuclear details (4).

These shades are being displayed in the differentkind of tissue types: red blood cells (1), muscle fibers(2), and collagen (3). Red blood cells will stainbrighter, more intense than all other cell structures.

The cell cytoplasm and muscle fibers should differ incolor from the collagen. These last tissue types givedarker/ lighter staining than the others, depending onstaining solutions and differentiation during stain, butalso on other variables, like fixation and the collagenstructure.

With better differentiation between the differentshades of pink in the eosin, the pathologist can seemore contrast between the different cells, which willaid in an easier diagnosis.

Knowing when slides are completed is important forlaboratories. However, the conventional methodrelies on paper trails to find out the status of the slide,which is time consuming.

With the new functionality of slide bar code readingyou will know when slides are ready to be

diagnosed by the pathologist. Fully automatic,therefore saving valuable time.

Another concern of the conventional method is theincreased risk of human errors. Whether thetechnician copies the slide ID onto another paper orfinds the paper trail and checks it off, there is anincrease in errors. With slide barcode reading in theFilm® and GlasTM g2 coverslippers, these challengesbelong to the past.

By automating slide barcode reading and with anLaboratory Information System connection it reducesrecording errors, aids with tracing root causes bylinking patient to reagent data and frees upresources.

Tissue-Tek® Coverslipping Film® is a unique,resin-coated plastic film that eliminates the need forcover glasses and liquid mounting media, whichreduces maintenance and assures fastcoverslipping.

Due to a wide range of configurations for routine andspecial staining only one system is required. Thesystem allows to run multiple protocols simulta-

neously and it works just as efficiently for yourcytology protocols.

The availability of three different volume reagentreservoirs optimizes reagent usage and decreasesoperating costs.
