This procedure describes the method of preservation activities to befollowed by NBTC for preservation of materials for the OL2KMechanical 3 ro!ect"

3.0 Reference.

preservation and documentation of material and e%uipment durin$stora$e& fabrication& construction and installation phases" O'N() isresponsible to issue the preservation plans for each e%uipments"

4.1 Material Controller

The material controller or his desi$nee is responsible for thepreservation of materials and e%uipment within the stora$e lay downareas and responsible to*

(nsure that materials and e%uipment is off loaded and stored

as per vendor instructions and pro!ect specificationre%uirements"

(nsure the preservation activities are documented and the

%uality records are turned over to +uality control departmentwhen the responsibility for preservation is transferred to theMechanical Construction Mana$er"

,efine re%uirements& establish schedules and monitor

conditions of Bul- Materials within warehouse and lay down

area"

3.2 Site Manager

.s responsible for approvin$ all preservation plans prepared by theMaterial Controller or his desi$nee"

3.3 Construction Manager

preserved as per manufacture1s re%uirements specified on theapplicable reservation lan"

material Controller on a field warehouse re%uest& arepreserved as per re%uirements"

3.4 Equipment Engineer

.s responsible to prepare preservation plan for e%uipment& issue&revise& update and reissue same with an issue slip and ensure thatthe e%uipment /motors& compressors& pumps& etc0 is preserved as perre%uirements specified in vendor data sheet and the preservation planby the O'N() for preservation"

3. Electrical ! "nstrumentation Construction manager.

.s responsible to prepare reservation plan for (. e%uipment& issuerevise update and reissue same throu$h an issue slip and ensure thatthe e%uipment/electrical motors& electrical panel boards& cable&

3.# $%&$C Manager

The +4+C mana$er or +C .nspector shall witness to ensurereservation activities are performed and documented as per pro!ectspecification re%uirements and maintained"

4.0 Proce'ure

4.1 Preser(ation Requirements

The mainiatanance& inspection and preservation of e%uipment will beperformed in accordance with manufacturer1s recommendations

inspection stora$e and maintenance records shall be preparedmaintained for each e%uipment"

4.2 Preser(ation ) *eneral

The preservation of materials and e%uipment are divided into two

distinct cate$ories as follows"

Cate$ory 5* )efers to e%uipment where& form no* M36+7652"829reservation record for (%uipments: shall be prepared for each item

of e%uipment which re%uires preservation" .t also refers to thee%uipment where form no* M36+7652"83 9)ecord ofNitro$en Blan-et: shall be prepared for e%uipment& which re%uirenitro$en blan-et" The e;ecution of preservation for e%uipment is

$overned by an approved 9reservation plan for e%uipments form no*M36+76

Cate$ory 2 *)efers to items such as flan$es& valves& end caps&moisture to cement lined pipe& dust inside stainless steel pipes&stora$e of paint& insulation etc" These items are $eneric and must be

chec-ed on a re$ular basis"

The material Controller and Mechanical Construction Mana$er shallestablish a schedule to monitor conditions of material belon$s tocate$ory 2" These schedules shall be updated as and when re%uired&preferably on an every alternate wee- basis& but these schedules

shall always reflect the current re%uired monitorin$ activities" Theseactivities shall be recorded and documented" /

Material controller or his desi$nee shall collect preservationre%uirements for each cate$ory of e%uipment based upon vendor

re%uirements" These may also be divided into different vendor toaccount for different brands of e%uipment"

The reservation lan for e%uipment shall be clearly listed"

=tora$e re%uirements& i"e" indoor& outdoor& air6conditioned&

covered& wrapped& sealed& etc" List of preservation activities"

7re%uency of reservation& such as daily& wee-ly& bi6wee-ly&

monthly etc"

The Material Controller or his desi$nee shall send all reservation lanfor (%uipment to the +4+C Mana$er for review prior to issue"

4.3 "ssue +istribution, -umbering an' Re(isions"

The Material controller shall ensure preservation plan for e%uipment is

prepared& reviewed& approved and issued in time to start preservationactivities in accordance with manufacturer instruction"

The preservation plan for e%uipments shall be issued to a minimum&

as follows"

The Material controller shall maintain an up to date inde; of all issuedpreservation plan of e%uipment" This list shall accompany the issue of

approved preservation plan for e%uipment"

4.4 Preser(ation 'uring Storage.

The Material Controller shall ensure that the preservationre%uirements for materials and e%uipment stored in warehouse or lay

down area are implemented and recorded" The stored materials shallbe monitored& to ensure that these are stored and preserved in

accordance with the re%uirements" Monitorin$ durin$ stora$e shall bedocumented on schedule basis"

On delivery to the warehouse& all material and e%uipment shall bechec-ed for any brea-down or e;istence of the #endor reservation& if

pplicable" .f preservation brea-down is observed& old preservation

shall be removed and re6protected"

The material controller shall ensure that e%uipment preservationrecords are prepared and implemented for received e%uipment" Thisis only applicable to e%uipment& which re%uires specific preservation"

The material controller shall maintain and -eep an up to date list ofe%uipment& which re%uires preservation"

'hen e%uipment is transferred to the mechanical construction site

mana$er the e%uipment preservation record shall also be turned overby the material controller to the +C department for stora$e and

handover to Owner" copy of these records shall be sent toMechanical construction mana$er to ensure continuity"

4. Preser(ation 'uring Construction an' "nstallation.

The Mechanical construction mana$er shall ensure that thepreservation re%uirements for e%uipment& awaitin$ installation 4Construction or already installed 4 constructed& are implemented as

specified in the preservation plan for e%uipment"

ll material bein$ stored by the construction department shall bepreserved as per re%uirements" This applies to material stored on theconstruction site awaitin$ incorporation into the permanent wor-s andmaterials that have been finalised and are mechanically complete"

The mechanical construction mana$er shall ensure that e%uipment

preservation forms are prepared for e%uipment that has already beenincorporated into permanent wor-s"

The e%uipment shall be initially preserved upon arrival at its

permanent position if re%uired"

The mechanical construction mana$er shall maintain and -eep an upto date list of e%uipment& which re%uires preservation"

4.# Preser(ation Recor's

t mechanical completion the contractor shall return all completedpreservation records to owner alon$ with the pro!ect hand overdocumentation"

The preservation documentation shall be prepared and handed overto the +C department at the mechanical completion sta$e"

The e%uipment preservation records& from the warehouse& shall be

handed over to +C upon completion of each preservation activity asdefined in the preservation plan for e%uipment& i"e" upon transfer of

preservation responsibility to construction" reservationresponsibilities shall be transferred from material controller to theMechanical Construction Mana$er 4 =r" (%uipment (n$ineer when there%uirements are transferred to construction site" The $eneral

preservation records for materials shall be handed over to +C, at themechanical completion sta$e"

The (%uipment preservation record forms shall be included in the

approved documentation system by +C ,epartment
