1.0 Scope.
This method statement describes the methods to be followed by
NBTC for executing the Erection of Structural Steel for the OL2K
echanical ! "ro#ect $
2.0 Reference.

3.0 Responsibility.
Structural Engineer shall be res-onsible for carrying out the #ob
as -er this method statement .C Engineer shall be res-onsiblefor carrying out all ins-ections$ aterial controller is res-onsiblefor recei/ing and storage of the material according to thedrawing
4.0$ Receiving of Owner Supplied materials$
0$% *ll Owner su--lied materials shall be recei/ed by the aterialController and shall be chec1ed for sie3 ty-e3 grade3 which meet
the re4uirements of drawings and standards and are traceable tomaterial certificates$
0$2 aterial shall be ins-ected for the o/erage3 shortage3 damage
and any changes will be brought bac1 to notice of Owner$
0$! aterial shall be stored in designated areas and segregated byty-e and 1e-t away from wal1ways and access routes$ Steelmember materials shall be suitably -rotected from corrosion and
deterioration$

'$%$% )abricated structural steel shall be erected using methods and ase4uence that will -ermit efficient and economical -erformance
of erection3 and that is consistent with the re4uirement of-ro#ect documents$

2$%$% "re5assembly of the structural steel will be carried out at the
ground le/el for erection con/enience whene/er -ossible$ *written assembly lift -lan shall be -re-ared for assemblies largerthan %' meters long3 larger than %67 s4uare meters in area orgreater than '( tons$ The assembly lift -lan shall demonstrate
that the -ro-osed lift shall be -erformed safely and thatassemblies being lifted will remain free from distortion or unduebending3 and will maintain structural integrity during the lift$

7$% Before commencing wor1 the structural Engineer shall chec1 thefoundation and other connection -oints to confirm their location3orientation3 ele/ation and condition$

7$; Structural frames including other members shall be set to thelines and ele/ations as indicated on the drawings$
7$6 *ny tem-orary bracing or guy ro-es re4uired to counteractloadings im-osed during erection shall be installed< to ensure
safe and stable conditions of -artially com-leted structuralassemblies$ =hile tying the guy ro-e3 necessary -recaution shallbe ta1en to -re/ent damages to gal/aniing surfaces$
7$> *ny guy cables from the structural assembly shall be anchoredto the ad#acent -edestals where tem-orary base are fixed with
hoo1s for securing the guy cables$$
7$%( Tem-orary erection loads or -ermanent loads shall not be -lacedon any incom-lete -ortions of the structure being erected$
7$%% )it5u- bolts and drift -ins shall not be used to bring im-ro-erlyfabricated members and -arts into -lace$
7$%2 ?oles may be enlarged by maximum of %$' mm only when
necessary to ma1e connections resulting from minor misfit$Enlargement of holes shall be drilling only$ )lame cutting shallnot be used$ +n case of mismatch or fabrication error3 Ownershall be ad/ised and a--ro/al of modification obtained$
7$%! =hen connecting the structural member3 do not release the
hoisting belt until the steel member is secured with not less thantwo bolts or the e4ui/alent at each connection and drawn u-tight$
7$%0 *nchor bolts shall be tightened after the su--orted membersha/e been -ositioned and -lumbed$ )ine s-ecified tighteningshall be ensured after the base -late grouting$

;$! ?igh strength bolts shall not be reused after being fully
tightened3 nor shall they be used as fit5u- bolts$ etighteningbolts which may ha/e been loosened for tightening of ad#acentbolts is not considered to be reuse$
*.0 +nspection and ,esting
6$% The ins-ection and test -lan for structural steel wor1ssummarises /arious characteristics to be chec1ed and theacce-tance criteria against each characteristics$
6$2 .C+ will be res-onsible to ins-ect all materials3 installations toensure conformance with all re4uirements of the -ro#ects-ecifications$
6$! *ll bolted connections ins-ected by the .C+ will ha/e the endscolour coded with an agreed colour to indicate that ins-ection
has been -erformed and the connections are acce-table$
-.0 Safety
>$% Necessary wor1 -ermit shall be obtained before commencementof site acti/ities$
>$2 Ladders will be erected to -ro/ide safe access to and egress fromwor1 areas$
>$! Climbing or sliding down on columns is -rohibited$
>$0 Only trained em-loyees will be allowed to o-erate the man lifts$
